Portishead and My Bloody Valentine.

I am hoping for at least some of these:
Radiohead
Asobi Seksu (been begging for them since January 2005)
David Bowie
Puscifer
Feist (she's gotta milk the popularity boost for all it's worth, and has never played)
Kiiiiiii
Amanda Palmer (solo album coming spring 2008)
Cat Power (new covers record in 2008? FUCK YES!)
Menomena
Sufjan Stevens
Final Fantasy
The Pipettes
M83
Mono
The Verve

Wheres the beef?

the knife couldn't work at all at coachella.

when they played at el rey last year they had to turn all the a/c off in the place so it wouldn't blow the scrims. coachella would ravish their visuals.

Scrims? What's a scrim and why does The Knife need them?

tessalasset
09-16-2007, 01:07 PM
no its not like they're gonna fly away. they cant have any movement on them at all. i'm not like an authority on scrims in any way, but i don't know how tight they can pull them down, and if any wind hits them it screws up the visuals.

altho sigur ros used one at the hollywood bowl, so who knows. i don't know how different their scrim was from the knife's.

IMO, if Daft Punk can erect a huge ass pyramid, then The Knife can perform without their scrims, or find a way to get them to work.

daft punk's pyramid was a bunch of lights and metal tubing that didn't depend on the weather to work. and the knife is not the knife without its visuals. you are talking about apples and oranges here.

Most seriously overdue non-headliner/non-reunion? ASOBI SEKSU

PassiveTheory
09-20-2007, 12:34 AM
Bah, I don't see why she's doing a solo album... I really like Brian as a drummer, and I don't see how she'll pull it off without it sounding like a DD record w/o him.

Oh, and I forgot about Asobi Seksu... Didn't they play like 2 years ago, though?

Boourns
09-20-2007, 12:43 AM
Nope, Asobi Seksu has never played Coachella. Their LA shows are always when I'm out of state or at the fucking echo.

And I agree. Brian is an amazing drummer. Don't see why she's doing a solo album and he's doing something with another band. Not getting along? I hope that's not the case.

PassiveTheory
09-20-2007, 01:13 AM
Me neither...

And I'm down with Asobi Seksu.

As for bands with... little-to-no chance of playing?:

Pixies

I saw Amanda Palmer's solo show here in London about a month ago and it was good. It DOES sound a bit like the Dresden Dolls, because obviously her song-writing style and vocals and piano are the same, but the songs are noticably different, too. They focus more on Amanda's personal stories and political thoughts, whereas the Dolls have been typecast as a sort of kooky / goth band.

I think Amanda and Brian just got tired of being stuck in that stereotype, and fancied doing their own things for a while.
