Two Bjork albums in one year? Pretty nice. Also, more touring next year it looks like.

More touring sounds good. I might try to catch her again if she comes to LA (or here in Phx, obviously)

that's a live album. that doesn't really count.

though I hope for more tourdates too... if she comes back to northern california, as long as it's better than shoreline, I'll be there. please not shoreline this time.

reading comprehension. it's not a "live album". it was recorded in a studio.

a live album recorded in a studio is still a live album. I suspect it's live performances of the songs they are currently doing on tour. although I admit the phrase "a special live session album" is vague and any guess about the content is just a guess.

Volta sounds a hell of a lot better live than with Bjorks muddy production. I welcome this newest opportunity for Bjork to shamelessly milk her fans of money.

I agree, studio can counteract real time, I've just done some film recording and editing for my friends band and the sound through the equipment at the time was shit.
We are now going to overlay the movement with a studio sound recording and pass it off as live. Though, its not really.

Its a studio album using her live band, how hard was it to figure that out?

Some people have a hard time with the whole "reading" thing. So I guess it was hard to some.

um... the term "a special live session album" is vague. you think that is a studio album?

I would usually reserve the term 'studio album' for a traditional studio recording, i.e. something recorded part-by-part, where each part is re-recorded as many times as they feel, until every bit of it is perfect. as opposed to something recorded live in studio, where the band plays the song together start to finish as if they were performing to an audience.

also, albums recorded live (in studio or otherwise) tend to be existing materail, while non-live studio albums tend to be new material. although there are exceptions in both cases.

I figured it was the latter case, but who knows.

Epic...can't wait...maybe she will re work some more of the Medulla stuff. She really should be playing more of that since it never got a tour...and maybe start performing Storm (Nameless) again...that was so fucking amazing live....

actually with her going to South America I don't think she will be hitting the US outside the dates already posted. Bummer...but I am thinking of maybe trying to go down to see her in Mexico, my heritage is Mexican but I have never been down there..Been to China and Japan though!!

A live album is not a live album unless it was at a venue in front of an audience.

Bjork please play the hollywood bowl on a saturday night someday soon.

A live album is not a live album unless it was at a venue in front of an audience.

really I am trying to talk about three different types of albums, but only have two ways to refer to them. I consider material recorded live in a studio (e.g. anyone's 'live at the bbc' album) to be closer to a live album recorded in front of an audience than a studio album. so I group them both together under the term 'live album'.
