View Full Version : The Request Thread

mob roulette
09-02-2007, 09:34 PM
This is a thread for making requests. Ask and if someone has something for you, maybe they will upload it and post or PM you the link. RIAA concerns aside, this is by and large not a thread for new music. This is not a place for you to ask for the new Interpol record. This is not a place for uploading records at all. But say you're missing an obscure classic track or something that's truly hard to find or maybe just out of print. Then this might be the thread for you. Ask and ye shall receive. Just watch what you ask for. This is not a depository. And I, for one, believe in paying artists or their estates thereof. Don't ask for anything if you're not that kind of person also. Or if you're not willing to share yourself if you are able.

Here, I'll start. I'm looking for some Strangeloves. Particularly the track "Night Time". If anybody has it, I'd be truly grateful. Or the Sonics. Okay.

Get it? Hey DJ, can you play that song? Okay thanks.

(Insert smarmy slsk comments here. I don't believe in it. I believe in paying for music almost 100% of the time. Gifts are different. As is this. Okay thanks again.)

Outside of the Nirvana circle, there's supposedly a handful of fans (some who may even post and often communicate within the Live Nirvana forums) who have it, but are hoarding it. In fact, at least one of them must have it, because some clips (in mp3) have shown up on myspace, and one guy supposedly made some clips of each song by recording them off his tape player using an open mic.

We're about to have a big annual downtown festival this weekend. A big part of it is the parade, which lasts all Saturday morning and has some obscene number of floats in it. At least twenty-five percent of them are school bands playing Louie Louie. Sometimes they even have to sync up with the other floats because of how many there are.

menikmati
09-03-2007, 11:07 AM
which do you want? "Sappy" or "Verse Chorus Verse"? It's kinda weird with those two songs because for a while, people had the names confused with each other and thought that 'Sappy' was 'VCV' and 'VCV' was 'Sappy' if that makes sense? But with the official boxset coming out a few years ago, all of that got cleared up.

I don't think Verse Chorus Verse ever got played live, but Sappy did. I know I have a few demos of VCV and Sappy though, so I'll see what I can come up with.

well there shouldn't be any 'convenience' when it comes to downloading albums, as we're really not supposed to do it, but I won't get into that as we're all guilty. There just shouldn't be any complaining about an album being in flac though, since it's a preferred format to back up and store files/songs in lossless (if that's what the person wants - and I wouldn't call them stupid). If you want mp3, either buy and convert em yourself or find another source.

You know what's funny about the Diplosaur? I like him and all, but doesn't that mix look way predictable? I feel like most halfway decent indie club hipster DJ's would have come up with something similar.

Just finished watching that Soprano's ep where Christopher gets shot and they play it at the beginning and the ending and it's such a beautiful song.

TV On The Radio's cover of "Mr. Grieves" please. I had it on vinyl once which does me no good now. I can't play vinyl at work even if I wanted to. It won't fit in the DVD/CD-RW Drive (D:). I tried.

Anyway. Help?

Sorry to resurrect this, but I really really need the live version of "Breakdown" by Tom Petty, if anyone has it. It's off of "Pack Up The Plantation", a CD I have purchased on more than one occasion. This particular track just got lost in the shuffle from computer to computer somehow and I need it back. I am currently streaming it because I wanted to hear it real bad, but that can't last, you know? It's a keeper.

Anyway, thanks.

Edit.. well shit, I should to more than thank you, I should kiss you. "i-night" was the song I was looking for all along. That song has sentimental value for me. It was the last song I played on my last show at KTRU 91.7 FM, back in May 1983.

"Painkiller" by Westworld -- not the metal band Westworld -- but the one with the "other" guy from Generation X. It's on their "Rockulator" album. I don't want to pay 19 bucks for a used copy on amazon.

Where was KTRU?
Also I recently found a tape I made of me doing a"high school guest DJ" spot on KUCI (which is the college radio station for University of California,Irvine) in 1983.I didn't play anything as cool as the Units, although I did play X,The Cramps,Kate Bush, and the Janie Jones & The Lash version of Sex Machine. All of which was completely negated by how nervous I was (and sounded) on air.

Wheres the beef?
