To think that The Strokes or Radiohead could headline in 2008?
The Strokes will have been on a year long hiatus by then...
Not to mention Radiohead will more than likely have new album out.
Any thoughts?

100% Unrealistic. I heard Aphex Twin and Bruce Springsteen are headlining.

It's gonna be No Doubt and Green Day.

Second tier---that's more of what I meant, about The Strokes anyway. But the question is...would they even play a festival like Coachella if they had to be second tier? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Coachella "anti-MTV"? If so, wouldn't Green Day create too much of a "sell out scene" given the role that the band has played in the industry lately? Then again, the same could be said for The Strokes...

Coachella doesn't worry about being seen as sell-out by anyone --> Madonna..

They do what they want and that's that. If they want green day they will have green day. I'd vote for U2 or REM or Prince over green day.

cool....ya think Madonna is coming back? Maybe Donna Summer & Justin Timberlake will join in.

Since when?

They are a commercial company out to make money...they'll get get bands or artists that'll sell tickets......everything else is pure opinion

I just thought that the "people in charge" of a cash cow event like Coachella would try to keep some semblance of order in what artists they host...to keep a personality of the festival going. Then again, alot of that personality comes from aspects other than music if you get my drift...so I guess it doesn't matter.

You're completely right though. I realized that was a pretty bold/opinionated statement after I posted. I just thought that there were alot of people out there who are concerned with "the scene" (i.e. they're tools) and literally wouldn't go to Coachella for the sheer fact that a band like Green Day is playing.

The coachella "people in charge" dont base their decisions on bands that are mainstream/not mainstream - they do it based on bands with a somewhat unique and original sound.

For instance, look at some of the headliners... RHCP, Coldplay, Beastie Boys to name a few. Fairly mainstream bands but they actually have a somewhat unique sound.

Bands like Fall Out Boy, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance, will never get a spot on the coachella bill.

Aren't the Strokes still on a break? that being said I guess I'm in the minority here but i think they could headline and this is coming from someone who fucking hates the strokes (only because i bought their last album and it was complete shit and i tend to hold grudges like that).

I think Radiohead is a bit more realistic then The Strokes at this point. Radiohead will by that time have an album out or at least have the album on a label to be put out by late spring early summer...The Strokes are on an indefinite hiatus. I could see Albert Hammond playing more so then The Strokes next year.

Prince has to wear a jacket, so it would be too hot for him - thank fuck.

Interpol wore full suits. How the fuck do you figure it will be too hot for a jacket?

Interpol are nearly, but not quite as stupid as you.

DeltaSigChi4

And you're as irrelevant as anyone else making 2008 predictions.

Interpol, who played earlier than Prince would, wore full suits. Therefore your Prince can't wear a jacket statement is beyond ludicrious. It actually is seeping with ignorance.

Don't be such a spoon, Algunz.

Also, the Strokes have about as good a chance at headlining as Renée Zellweger has of suddenly becoming attractive.
