I heard a tribute to him on the local jazz station yesterday.

I worked with his son,Daryl,in a play at South Coast Repertory in Cali.He told me some cool stories about Billie Holiday reading him bedtime stories and stuff.Incidentally,Daryl played Chuck the bike-shop guy in Pee-wee's Big Adventure.
