Apparently, No New Radiohead Album in 2007
But! Radiohead art collected in Stanley Donwood book
Read it and weep if you must. But yes, according to a Teletext report, and despite rampant speculation, a Radiohead UK PR person has claimed that the band won't release its latest magnum opus until 2008. (A U.S. rep neither confirmed nor denied this).

Really though, with August already halfway out the window, 2008 isn't such a long ways off, is it now? And, to tide you over for the wait, Verso Books is set to re-publish the Stanley Donwood/Dr. Tchock art book Dead Children Playing.

Originally pressed in 2006 and sharing its name with a Donwood art exhibit, this full-color tome collects the era-defining visuals that have accompanied Radiohead's music from The Bends through Hail to the Thief. The eerie, paranoid creations of Donwood and Tchock (perhaps better known as Thom Yorke) fill this hardcover book's 80-odd pages-- everything from album covers to promo art to assorted sketches to that grim cartoon/comic that came hidden behind the CD tray in early copies of Kid A.

This, the first Verso edition, will hit bookshelves October 17.

In other Radiohead news, ask Jonny Greenwood why the hell he named his award-winning orchestral composition Popcorn Superhet Receiver when the piece makes its U.S. debut January 16 and 17, as part of the Wordless Music Series.

I predict no new Radiohead till 2009. Johnny and co are too busy with side stuff.

I also heard Thom is doing a new solo ep (maybe) before a new RH lp. Who knows - them taking their time this time out defintely stinks though.

I wouldn't mind Jonny and Thom solos appearances at next years Coachella (if anyone was keeping track those were my top askings for this year). I just want to hear the Eraser material live before I die and Jonny doing Bodysong live or his orchestral compositions would be amazing as well....

I think that the only chance anybody will ever get to hear Thom's solo stuff live is at a Radiohead show, and I'm talking like one song and that's it. He has already stated that he will not tour any of his solo stuff. I would fucking die if he toured solo though, my goodness.

yes, yes we all know he stated he wouldn't tour the material but all it would take is sweet talking from one of the band members to get him going...if Jonny decided to do a solo show, Thom would have more courage to pull it off. Even if it did happen I highly doubt it would be a "tour", more like special engagements....

You can now, isn't there another article right by that one talking about wordless music series? Johnny Greenwood performing his orchestral piece, two nights in New York, January 18 & 19 I think.

I think new radiohead will be out in 2008, definitely not 2009, they never really confirmed any release date so for people to get all excited over the silly little teases they post on their blog is a bit idiotic.

Does anyone speak Esperanto?

The Finnish linguist Jouko Lindstedt, an expert on native-born Esperanto speakers, presented the following scheme[7] to show the overall proportions of language capabilities within the Esperanto community:

1,000 have Esperanto as their native language
10,000 speak it fluently
100,000 can use it actively
1,000,000 understand a large amount passively
10,000,000 have studied it to some extent at some time. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperanto)

La Cucaracha-The new Ween album- this fall

Yes, the new Ween album has a name, "La Cucaracha". The album kicks ass, I'm not really sure what else to say about it other than I really can't wait for it's release. There's not a wasted minute of music on there. We wrote and recorded a ton of material before we whittled it down to it's present state. We recorded the album to two inch 24 track tape and it sounds amazing. As always, it was produced and mixed by Andrew Weiss. It's due to be released in late September and we have already booked our American tour, which runs from mid-October until X-mas break. It will be our first full scale tour since "Quebec" was released. We will be playing pretty much every major city in the U.S. I'm not so sure yet about Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan but it looks like we'll get there next year. I really, I mean really can't wait for you guys to hear it. I think you're gonna be floored.

Worst news ever.

It doesn't matter how many years you spend editing, songs like "Bodysnatchers", "Spooks", and "Open Pick" will never be amazing. Ok Computer and Kid A were made in far less time. 5+ years = Tool, but without the excuse of legal issues or A Perfect Circle

There are few things I have more contempt for than Esperanto. I'm serious. The very fact that my favorite band uses such an idiotic excuse for communication hurts almost as badly as listening to 4 Minute Warning, which I have a distinct hatred of.

Teletext: The band’s PR confirmed to us that they have finished recording the follow-up to 2003’s Hail To The Thief, but added: “It isn’t out until 2008.” No news was given for the delay, but it’s believed the band want to iron out a new record deal before its release, and to give time for their next record company to market the album.

so the record's done, they just don't have anyway of putting it out, cuz they've been farting around for the last 4 years.

Come to think of it, maybe that is what they will do. Just distribute it themselves. Why not? Most Radiohead fans are wired as it is. It wouldn't be so hard...but then they leave out quite a lot of people some Thom was against in a interview...
