"Roundabout" = Yes
"YYZ" = Rush
"XYZ"= Pop Will Eat Itself. :)

I saw Rush in '90 on the Presto tour...probably their last decent album.

I wouldn't see that happening unless they just wanted to play a small show for fun. They would never be put on one of the big stages, because they aren't "cool". And they aren't making a comeback and don't need the publicity/credibility boost a tent show would give them. They still sell out arenas worldwide.

Coheed last year was absolutely phenomenal. Talk about a commitment to rocking out.

Yes meaning the band Yes, not "Yes, that is Rush" .... in case anyone is confused even further.

just helpin' out.

Maybe it would have been easier to say "no"...as in "no, they didn't play either of those songs". :)

There is no way Rush is going to play.

but wait.. what's this whole Rush/Coheed thing??? Do they have some relationship i was unaware about?

Similar voices
Similar musical style (well, older Rush anyway...they got mellower in the 80s)
Similar pretentious, complicated storylines.
They both have large followings, yet are rejected by both the mainstream and the hipster underground.

You could compare Coheed to any 70's prog-rock band, but Rush is the most obvious.

Pound for pound Rush is one of the most talented bands ever.....yes EVER! The only thing that sucks is that yes, I can see where you could not stand them if Geddy's voice grates on you. Other than that though, you cant fuck with any of those guys on their instruments. Alex Lifeson is really good on Guitar...not the best ever but really fuckin good. Geddy Lee is one of the best bass players to ever pick one up. And I dont think I even need to get far into how good Neil Peart is......he is the best percussionist pretty much hands down and I challenge anyone to name someone better.

All that being said I dont really think they are much of a festival band....and if you have ever seen them live you know, they have a pretty substantial rig.......that and they arent really a "play 45min and get out" kind of band either....when you see Rush you get your money's worth. They are probaly in my top 4 fav acts to see live. They are kinda like RATM....if you get a chance to go see them, you do it.

If Geddy and/ or Rush even think of approaching any stage I will immedaitely hurl anything that isn't tied down at them including, but not limited to :

Small children
Curse words you've never heard before
Medium-size pieces of sod
Stupid hipster fucks
AIDZ infected needelz
Brits

Rush=worst band of all time

Wait, is Crowded House cool? I must have missed that.

(For the record, Rush playing Coachella would be awesome since many of us are closet fans and would find it hard to commit to an actual concert on a new tour.)

NO, Rush will not be playing Coachella, hehehehe. But they are an AMAZING band live. I saw them in 2002. Incredibly tight performance! One of the best classic rock bands that is still around. And their drummer is pretty much as good as it gets.

I absolutely second all of the above!
And Rush would never play for 45 minutes. They do their own tours so they can play 2-3 hour sets, so Coachella is out.
However, Rush COULD play at Bonnaroo! The OTHER festival is more relaxed (cooler?) in allowing certain bands to play 2-3 hour sets.

all of these grand statements about Rush, "best percussionist" "best live act" etc are all null and void because of these three words........

hahahaha are you kidding me? Gene Simmons?? I can admit that while Rush is not my particular favorite, they're excellent musicians. And you can't deny the rock that is Tom Sawyer

The Demon will rip off your head and shit down your neck for laughing in his direction. Tom Sawyer is not rock- it is several minutes of Geddy sounding like he's looking for the balls that he never had, and smoking pole at the same time.

In closing, Rush is the worst band ever.

everyone except paul mccartney gene simmons. he's extremely talented, just not at bass (although he's still better than say, paul mccartney). and you left one guy off. he gets ignored so much because (like a lot of newer music) people can't friggin' stand the singer. mudvayne's bassist is ryan martinie, and he's by far one of the most innovative, brilliant, and basically mind blowing bassists I've ever seen. including seeing wooten play with the flecktones, and seeing primus.
this is the best example I could find on youtube. it pales in comparison to standing four feet away from him (ten feet away from his array of half gallien krueger half ampeg 4x12 cabs on a base of unidentified subs) and watching him play every spot on the bass with every part of both hands with lightning speed, not missing a note for an hour and a half

I saw Rush in 1993 and I rather enjoyed it. Candlebox opened!

I saw Rush again in 1996. I liked it but it struck me that the two shows were all but identical. And I wasn't raving about the 10-minute drum solo either time.

I realized that I would never care to see them again.

The end.

I posted this last night, but it got erased:

If you are trying to imply that Rush has anything in common with Def Leppard you are wrong. The only thing they have in common is they both released albums in the 80's, but so did Linda Ronstadt and Black Flag.

AND

The difference between Rush and Coheed: Rush is original, Coheed is not.

that's like saying Bon Jovi for Coachella 2010..

i've never met any musicians who have talked about how they were influenced by either of those bands, while i can't tell you the number who cite Rush as one..
