Hmm.

According to the composer's family, Chopin was born March 1, 1810. There is no known birth certificate. His baptismal certificate lists his birthdate as February 22, 1810, but this was most likely an error on the part of the priest.

C'mon, what's up with those stupid long lists? Pick a couple worthwhile ones. Nobody cares if a mathmetician shares your birthday!

Offhand I know of 2 people that share my birthday. Tom Selleck, Oprah Winfrey and I were all born on January 29th.

If I only manage to become 1000th as rich as Oprah I'll be happy.

The fact that Tom Selleck and Oprah Winfery both share your birthday kind of balances you out in the points department. I have you sitting pretty much at zero right now. That's why you should post your entire list, so we can pick and choose. Let us decide for you. We know better. Trust me on this one.

What is the point system here?

Hannahrain

That question just lost you thirty points. The points are decided based on a strict system of whatever the fuck we feel like awarding or deducting. It's an exact science.

# 1953 Bess Armstrong (actress)
# 1950 Christina Onassis (executive, heiress)

Ok so:

1859 - Billy The Kid, American outlaw (date of death disputed)
1887 - Boris Karloff, British actor (d. 1969)
1888 - Harpo Marx, American comedian (d. 1964)
1923 - R.L. Burnside, American musician (d. 2005)
1934 - Robert Towne, American writer, director, producer, and actor
1966 - Vincent Cassel, French actor
1973 - Trick Daddy, American rapper

+40. Easy. I did 5 points per name and 10 for R.L. Burnside. That's a catch. Not sure if we want to do deductions here or not, cause otherwise:

1944 - Joe Eszterhas, Hungarian-born film producer and writer
1954 - Bruce Hornsby, American musician

-40. Valiant effort though. Valiant.

Wow. I'd say 25 for Cobain, just cause it's all still pretty fresh in the collective mind, 15 each for Barkley, Hearst, and Poitier, and an even 10 for Altman. See that's 75 right there.

+10 for knowing Charles Barkley's college nickname.

Dude, that's a horrible list. No fooling. I'm sorry to say it, but it's true. Really. Sorry man. Sorry. So anyway, let's see, (wetting pencil with tongue) I'm going to go ahead and give you 20 for Harrison. Did I give you 20 before? Well, I will now. Um, I'll go 15 for Ralph Stanley (and that's a friend price, mind you), 10 for Renoir, Caruso, John Doe, and Thurston Howell the Third. 5 each for Yule, Gelbart, Burgess, and Jordan. I'll throw in an extra 5 for Kurt Rambis because I feel bad for you and your birthday (and because I dig Kurt Rambis!) So let's see now....+10...carry the one... what do you say we call it an even 100? You won't win, but the other kids won't make fun of you either. It's a good deal. Whaddya say?

February 12th

* 1809 - Charles Darwin, English naturalist (d. 1882)
* 1809 - Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States (d. 1865)
* 1915 - Lorne Greene, American actor (d. 1987)
* 1923 - Franco Zeffirelli, Italian film and opera director and designer

* 1938 - Judy Blume, American author
* 1948 - Raymond Kurzweil, American inventor and author
* 1969 - Darren Aronofsky, American director and writer
* 1980 - Christina Ricci, American actress

Okay. Let me just preface his by saying that this was one of the hardest ones I had to do. It's an interesting list. I still can't get over that 1-2 Darwin-Lincoln punch. How did you pull that one off? However, despite this fact, you also submitted a few that were more than worthy of subtraction, just by their sheer annoyance factor. Chynna Phillips, Arsenio Hall, and Ray Manzarek were among them (the guy's a chode), but then I remembered that Manzarek produced an X record (jumped on stage with them for a cover of "Soul Kitchen" too) and that Arsenio had Radiohead on pretty early in the game and seemed genuinely proud of that too. So in the end, I left it alone. No subtractions for anyone.

So yeah, I'm going to go 40 for Darwin. You just have to. The influence there just can't be denied. The balls on this guy. Add another 40 for Lincoln. The Civil War, slavery, the Emancipation Proclamation, dying glamourously, etc. Again, the balls on this guy. So let's see, 80 plus...10 for Ricci...um, maybe Garigiola? No. No, no, no. 5 points for everyone else. So that's 90...plus 45...oops. Well, she's taken anyway. Whatever. So that means, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION. 135 POINTS FOR b---mack---eighty----siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiix.

That's going to be a tough one to beat. But he brought his A-game tonight and so he deserves the win. From the beautiful Empire Polo Fields in sunny Southern California, this is mob roulette reporting. Back to you in the studio, Bob.

Goddamnit. I'm trying to declare a winner here, people.

Can we start playing Mob's points game with golf rules?

What do you want, a handicap? You already got one of those. By the way, how funny is it that Anderson wasn't in Kreutz's original list but Gabe is such a fanboy, he knew that it should be. Not hating, player, you know I love you. I just think it's funny. Is Paul your smarter older brother or something? I'm surprised you're not more jealous. You must be a very evolved person.

I am soooo not looking to win (whatever the prize is!), I just happen to know a few famous folks with whom I share a birthday (July 3rd).

Franz Kafka
David Lynch
Vince Clarke
Tom Cruise

Not a very exciting day. Everyone appeared throughout history to be waiting for U.S. Independence Day

I was pretty much with you until you got to Tom Cruise. hmmm

I AM a huge PTA fanboy. I've looked him up on wikipedia/IMDB enough times over the past 5 years trying to figure out what he was up to (before news of "There Will Be Blood" broke) that his birthday became forever ingrained in my memory. I do find it funny that so many fine directors (Paul T, Wes, Lyndsay) share my last name.

I can't believe Adams, Jefferson and Monroe all died on Independence Day. Weird.

Even weirder is the fact that Mark Twain was born and died when Halley's comet appeared:

I came in with Halley's Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don't go out with Halley's Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: 'Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.'

Twain died of a heart attack on April 21, 1910 in Redding, Connecticut.
