Will they have to close down earlier than other venues because of it being in Lehi? Not trying to be a buzzkill or make fun of your state or anything, but I've been to towns like that and a couple of them were in your area of the country. Just wondering.

this mormon bashing is bullshit. what's next put em in the ovens?

so much for tolerance huh? i'm not mormon but me and my wives are looking forward to taking our genetically defective kids to this show. hopefully our bishop will allow it. after we tithe that is.

Mormonism is an incredibly fascinating thing to study. That's not what this thread is about, but it's true. It's a helluva thing to get a grasp on. There's so many areas of American culture and history that the study of Mormonism touches upon. It's remarkable.

I am scared to death of that man. He makes sense on some things and he's smooth as all get out, but there's something behind that smile. Trust me on this. Something like Patrick Bateman. This is just something I intuitively feel. He has a button inside of him somewhere that I don't want anyone to push. Ever.

Romney bought Iowa. That's entirely different than winning.

My fiancee was Mormon growing up and taught me a lot about it. It is very interesting. Her whole family still practices, so I feel like a weirdo when I am around them (I am a agnostic bordering on atheist, my fiancee is in the same boat).

Honestly, even before his flip flopping, I always thought he had the best chance out of the Republicans (Even though the next president will most likely be Democrat) of winning. He was one of the main guys behind Massachusetts universal health care plan. So he has some decent ideas, plus he has raised more money then any of the other Republicans. But like all Pres. Candidates he keep saying crap that makes me dislike him more (Even Obama is gulity of this, though he is still my fav candidate). Trying too hard to win the the right and hard right vote. When Mitt 1st announced his running he was much more center .

All ages shows in Utah always shutdown at 11:00 pm. I dont think that will be any different because it's in lehi.

I think people give SLC crap just because the Mormon stigma. I visited there a year ago on a road trip and I loved it. It is a real city and along with Park City completely unlike anywhere in Utah in terms of liberal views. Maybe I'll try and check out AF/LCD again after Red Rocks...

weird.. big statement. LCD is awesome man ive seen them twice this year. Yea neon bible wasn't that great but still it was a big album for the indie scene in 07 even tho it wasn't no where near funeral.

Neon Bible was not even in the same category as Funeral. It was rushed and sounded like it was made for the radio. I have seen LCD numerous times and all there shows seem like its the same shit. Arcade Fire is trying to be the Beatles of Indie rock.

no cars go is incredible, but it's not like it was new material. i still think the rest of the album is sub-par for them. it didn't really evoke anything for me and i don't ever find myself wanting to listen to it again.

I found both engaging.

Same here, each one was engaging in a different way, Neon Bible is one of my favorite albums this year. And Tom, you are not alone when thinking Neon Bible was a step in the right direction, I have felt that way since the day I first listened to it.

08-13-2007, 12:25 PM
it doesn't feel right to me, and i think it lacks some of their earlier individuality and spirit.

i just can't get into neon bible. it's good, yes, but not the masterpiece that funeral was.

It seems like it is an acquired taste, referring back to Tom's earlier comment about Funeral being flawed, I have noticed lately that I skip at least two tracks on The Funeral to get to other's, I don't do that with Neon Bible, that does not necessarily mean that Neon Bible is better but it does say something...What it says I am still trying to figure out.

Arcade Fire and LCD: Not Just a Tour, But a Split 7"!
Buncha LCD Soundsystem releases in the pipeline

Good news! This Arcade Fire/LCD Soundsystem tour we've reported with each new addition of dates has finally reached its maximum expansion point, meaning the newest date in Lehi, Utah on September 26 will be the tour's last addition unless they decide to do the whole thing over again in, say, Botswana.

A special, previously unreported piece of memorabilia will be available on the joint tour and through each band's respective website: a limited edition split 7" featuring LCD Soundsystem covering Joy Division's "No Love Lost" and Arcade Fire covering Serge Gainsbourg's "Poupee de Cire".

As another heads-up, these shows with LCD will be the Arcade Fire's last in North America in support of Neon Bible, which makes it sound like they plan on either disavowing the record and touring here anyway or, in the more likely scenario, taking a break/touring elsewhere/recording their third record. We won't, however, hold our breath for a new album anytime soon.

It's a different story in LCD land, though. On September 18, James Murphy and co. will release the A Bunch of Stuff EP via DFA/Capitol. Included on the EP will be Franz Ferdinand's cover of "All My Friends", a Soulwax remix of "Get Innocuous", a Carl Craig remix of "Sound of Silver", a Sorcerer remix of "Us v Them", a Gucci Soundsystem remix of "Time to Get Away", and LCD Soundsystem's own live performance of "Us v Them" on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic".

On the very next day, September 19, LCD Soundsystem will appear on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno".

Other forthcoming LCD/Murphy releases include the DFA re-release of 45:33 on November 12 with three B-sides, as well as the Caroline release of mix disc FABRICLIVE36: James Murphy & Pat Mahoney on November 20.

Finally, artist Doug Aitken (who did that Sleepwalking thing) is in the midst of shooting an experimental short film to accompany the eventual UK single release of "Someone Great".
