I would like to see LCD Soundsystem live, but don't want to pay for the Arcade Fire as well.

How many people were at V Fest? It looks awesome.

I want to say 35,000 were at V-fest (I heard that number from somewhere, forgot where). Saturday was much more crowded than Sunday, all because of The Police and Beastie Boys.

and I hate to say it, but I was disappointed by LCD. They are an awesome band, but the energy wasnt there. I blame the idiot that put them on a stage and not in the dance tent. Not cool man!

their setlist was similar to that of the coachella one:

Us Vs Them
Daft Punk is playing at my house
Time To Get Away
North American Scum
All My Friends
Tribulations
Movement
Yeah

oh and all pics were taken by me. I took about 125 all weekend, these are the ones that came out best.

Great pics! Looks like you were in a really good location for EITS. We didn't head over to that stage until Spoon was finished, so we were pretty far back. We basically just found a spot next to where they were painting all the graffiti and chilled. It would have been a perfect spot except for the four underage Girls Gone Wild rejects in front of us.

I agree on the CSS set. It was great. The lead singer was also very upset with United Airlines. Hearing her cuss them out added to my enjoyment of the set. The north stage killed for the first three acts on Sunday with CSS, Regina Spektor, and Spoon back-to-back-to-back. Not sure who followed Spoon since I was hauling ass over to south stage to catch EITS.

yeah he came on for a couple of minutes and performed with Infected Mushroom. It was... different. Not good or bad, just... different.

by the way - did anyone see this kid onstage in the dance tent during James Zabiela? She was having the time of her life with those beach balls. I remember someone even telling me it was Matisyahu's daughter!

Your shoulders must get quite sweaty. That is the weirdest sweat line I have ever seen on a shirt.

betao
08-09-2007, 02:28 PM
i spent most of the days in the dance tent surrounded by people without shirts on dancing. factor in all the sweat coming down my neck too. I was wearing an undershirt that day, so you cant see sweat in other places quite as well.

If my friend has any decent pictures from it I'll get them from him and post 'em. He was front and center for Wu-Tang (the orange-haired freckled mick fuck hasn't stopped playing Wu and MF Doom ever since Rock The Bells apparently, won't shut up about rap at all now) and said he had about a hundred opportunities to get close-ups of Meth, Ghostface, and everybody leaning down practically into his face... but couldn't get his camera to work. I told him that's what he gets for missing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, dumb fucker.

Not that I don't love Wu, but I used to deal to their cousins and I've seen Method Man walking around Shaolin when doing business up there. He's a cool motherfucker, but Karen O might have solidified her position as the chick I want to fuck more than anything in the world this second time I've seen them.

And LCD really did suck horribly at Virgin. I haven't been able to understand why they get so much love on here from their album but everyone says they were amazing live, so I decided to take the chance and check them out considering whoever else was playing I had no interest in whatsoever. But they were just terrible, man. Maybe that was just a bad set or whatever or there were sound problems (although the second stage had vastly superior sound all weekend), but that shit sucked. Me and my homie hung around and tried to let the acid and making fun of the unbelievably high percentage of walking human jokes in the crowd make it tolerable, but that didn't last more than four songs. Daft Punk needs to play at his house more frequently, like until he figures out how to make music that doesn't sound like shit.

If anyone has a wide shot of the Pumpkins "light extravaganza" during their last song please post it--it literally looks exactly like RHCP's setup at Coach except 1/10 the size.

Also, Scott Weiland should have gone over and kicked the everloving dogshit out of Billy Corgan for that bullshit way back where Corgan parodied STP's "Creep" at a Pumpkins show but changed the lyrics to "we're half the band we used to be." Weiland was the fucking definition of a frontman at that festival, I'm so glad I finally got to see him perform again. Corgan, meanwhile, managed to do about the worst job of headlining I've ever witnessed. That choice of setlist was fucking horrendous and frankly insulting to the crowd. Fuck that dude.

I personally enjoyed LCD Soundsystem, and I'm not a big fan of the album. It wasn't GREAT!, but I didn't think it was bad either. It was hard to follow Peter Bjorn & John.

I really enjoyed The Smashing Pumpkins. I was surprised with their performance. When they played Stand Inside Your Love, I was in Heaven.

The Pumpkins set was embarassing. Who plays three ballads in a row? Jesus Christ Billy, how long have you been a fucking rock star and you don't know that that's going to drain all the energy out of a crowd? And what was with those jam sessions? I don't want to hear the fucking Pumpkins jam out for fifteen minutes, thanks, especially when the cocksucker didn't even play Zero or Disarm (unless I missed those two in the very, very beginning of the set).

They did play Zero. No Disarm though, yeah, that was sucky. I thought the Pumpkins were great. They only really jammed in the songs that jam in the albums, like United States. Other than that, they played their hits and some good stuff. Though, I am personally a fan of their love songs and softer crap, so maybe that is why I enjoyed it.

No encore was lame though. That's when I was expecting them to play Disarm. I was also sort of hoping for Everlasting Gaze and Real Love.
