Coming from Australia, meeting a mate from Oxford, England, who is actually scottish.
Usually go to england and hop over to a couple of the euro festivals and that was the plan till i saw rage against the machine. Bjork etc. are going to be well worth the travels aswell but I mean crowded house...really....brilliant!

Gonna cost a shitload, but what can you do. Probably turn out cheaper than going to the euro festies, but not as much time to save the money!
You yanks better put on a good festival!

No worries, I've been every year, and the fesitval is top notch (not to mention the incredible weather when compared to Glasto and others)

I applaud you guys and your dedicaton to good times. I thought Ohio was a far and expnsive trip, hats off to you, seriously.

THIS IS WHY Coachella is so cool, people like this who obviouly care about great times and equally great music.

Hope he gets a win in court using the appeal that he had to go see rage and well, I mean, really, it's rage against the machine!

I'm coming from the UK too. I could usesome help in terms of directions, like what airport to fly to (I think Ontario would be the most sensible) and how to get to the Coachella valley from there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hexaflex
01-28-2007, 08:46 AM
Overdose, apparently Ontario is closer than LAX, but I've heard the closest airport is Palm Springs International. In fact:

Regarding the airports nearest Coachella, Palm Springs International would be the closest. I didn't realize it was International but it is. Palm Springs is adjacent to Indio where the Polo Grounds are located. So literally minutes away from it. Ontario is an 1 hour and 1/2 away, LAX would be over 2 hours away.

http://www.palmspringsairport.com/airlines.html

Thanks Mr. bleedblack :)

JCLimited
01-28-2007, 10:30 AM
Though Palm Spring is "international" only American and Canadian airlines service the airport. So, if you're coming from overseas, you'll have to connect to, or fly with, an US carrier.

I figure freedom isn't worth shit if you don't live it out to the fullest and take opportunites to do the things that truly make you happy, and this is definitely one of those opportunities. If I have to do a little time, so be it. I know I'll get out eventually. But if I don't go to coachella, I will have never seen rage. not only rage, but damn: the roots, interpol, tilly and the wall, explosions in the sky, damian and stephen marley, ghostface killah, sonic youth, lcd soundsystem, rufus wainwright, need I go on!!!! this is something I just can't pass up.

Someone needs to get their priorities straight. If seeing Rage is more important to you than doing time, then you have some serious deep-seated problems, dude.

I would do ANYTHING to avoid jail. Anything. Unless you're in and out of jail all the time, then I guess it wouldn't matter to you.

I'm in Syd... yeah had the option of air caledonia or something that sounded a bit suss.. thought there was less of a chance of an air NZ plane dropping out of the air, you know.. ehehe

I guess we could ask the campsite people if we can have a large area enough for say 5-6 tents and officially call it the kiwi/aussie campsite. so then when people arrive they can just ask to put their tent in the kiwi/aussie area.... do you think you'll have a cellphone while you're there?

hey fawcett i'm also arriving 24th, are you staying in LA? i'm in a hostel for 2 nights in west hollywood oh lala. when you going down to coachella? i'm heading there on thurs,

yeah i'll be taking a mobile phone over... i'm thinking about taking 2 mobile phones so i don't need to recharge! are other people taking mobs?

i think i read somewhere that if you wanna camp with your friends, you gotta arrive together... when are people planning on arriving at the festival? and how? (I'm on a greyhound bus from LA, i think if i get the 11am bus from LA it arrives in Indio at 225pm - but no idea how to get to coachella from Indio!)

You can find the bus station on google maps....

HERE (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=greyhound+bus+lines+indio&layer=&sll=33.730764,-116.196213&sspn=0.063815,0.1157&ie=UTF8&z=13&ll=33.718914,-116.192265&spn=0.063824,0.1157&om=1)

and then look on the coachella site for the address of the empire polo field...I think it's about 4 miles or something.

in the campsite FAQ it says if you arrive at different times you can just tell the campsite people how many extra tents/people you have coming, and then you'd call your friends to let them know where in the campsite you are. i'll be arriving thursday night (leaving LA at about 4:30) with three other dudes I've got a ride with, and probably meeting up with my friend from Tazzy. If everyone had cellphones and kept in touch it might just work.
