Hardcore/Scene kids in Victoria Gardens? That sounds worse then Rage Against The Machine fans in Chino or Inland Empire...

kimery08
08-08-2007, 04:15 PM
not that it matters at all but i think bros/bro hoes out number the hipster kids at victoria gardens.
that place is overrated.

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 04:16 PM
Dirt people are scary.

agreed
im glad they stay in fontana

i would rather deal with "dirt people" then scene kids though.
my school is becoming nothing but scene/hardcore kids
they walk around passing periods doing "pig squeels"

its so annoying

kimery08
08-08-2007, 04:28 PM
they closed that big vans store.
we have nothing but shitty wind.

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 04:28 PM
Maybe now that it's moved they will get a lineup that appeals to a market other than trailer trash meth addicts?

Yeah, no fucking shit...They definitely cannot attract LA concertgoers with the trailer trash lineup they had last year

suprefan
08-08-2007, 04:29 PM
Except for MUSE.

bballarl
08-08-2007, 04:29 PM
Did Papa Roach play? Or Disturbed? Or Drowning Pool? Or Godsmack? Or Daughtry? Or Nickelback?

AAM!!!

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 04:40 PM
Did Papa Roach play? Or Disturbed? Or Drowning Pool? Or Godsmack? Or Daughtry? Or Nickelback?

With what last year's lineup looked like they should have included all of these, plus Insane Clown Posse

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 04:40 PM
what the is that supposed to mean?

bballarl
08-08-2007, 04:41 PM
Nothing. You're doing a good job with your reporting. Keep it up.

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 04:45 PM
What outdoor venue in LA would hold this fucking thing anyways?

08-08-2007, 04:45 PM

exactly!

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 04:47 PM
greek?

Are you kidding for a KROQ event? Way too small, remember this is coming from the depths of hell (Hyundai Pavillion) which holds the entire U.S. population

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 04:52 PM
maybe its gunna be GA
dodgers stadium parking lot or something?

maybe its gunna be indoors
staples?

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 04:53 PM
No, the point of this concert is for it to be outdoors

algunz
08-08-2007, 04:54 PM
They'll do it at Universal. They do everything at Universal.

suprefan
08-08-2007, 04:55 PM
They'll do it at Universal. They do everything at Universal.

Gibson and they dont do EVERYTHING at gibson. Weenie Roast happens at Gibson now? I didnt realize that. Maybe the Greek come to think of it, since they coudl raise money for chairty due to the fires. I stil don't see where though, this is suppsed to be more ''affordable'' since when it was at Hyundai lawn was like $35. The first one had very cheap tickets and it sold out.

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 04:57 PM
then im guessing it might be a GA show
dodgers stadium parking lot
the rose bowl parking lot
i think everyones pretty sure the pumpkins are playing so it has to be big.....

have fun seeing Panic! and Smashing Pumpkins.

bballarl
08-08-2007, 04:58 PM
I would like to see the Pumpkins again.

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 04:58 PM
What about The Bowl?

suprefan
08-08-2007, 04:59 PM
Pumpkins are a LOCK. Now after seeing the SP tour shirt at the Fillmore, them putting ''Los Angeles'' on the shirt fits.

What about The Bowl?

Show at the Bowl already, I doubt the Bowl wouldve let them do it and tix would cost the fortune they already do. Nobody would even stay still in the pool section.

bballarl
08-08-2007, 04:59 PM
Too cool of a venue.

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 05:00 PM
Too cool of a venue.

True, if the lineup sucks, you can always catch the Pumpkins play their solo LA gig the day after. I bet they play The Greek

suprefan
08-08-2007, 05:01 PM
IF KROQ lets them do their own show, odds are maybe but KROQ would control it and do their thing.

bballarl
08-08-2007, 05:01 PM
Yeah. I saw 2 of their gigs at the Fillmore and they were great, although a bit lengthy. I'd like to see a more abbreviated show.

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 05:02 PM
IF KROQ lets them do their own show, odds are maybe but KROQ would control it and do their thing.

Regardless their solo gig will be brought to you by KROQ and whatever new Scion is coming out

08-08-2007, 05:03 PM
KROQ's gonna love the 45 minute Gossamer

suprefan
08-08-2007, 05:04 PM
Yeah I wanna hear Gossamer!!! Let all the kids leave, it would be great. If the meatheads can wait until 1am like last year for Guns, billy can pummel them til kingdom come with a long song.

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 05:04 PM

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 05:23 PM

It was 2004, and that is the dumbest reason why you should not want a band (that you like) to play...Come on man, get with it. You will be happy and it will be a happy time whether they play or not, mmmmkay?

ficklecycle
08-08-2007, 09:15 PM
I love them, I'm just always fucked over with tickets and I get pissed that all these meat heads don't even know who they are and are up front while I'm in the back trying to enjoy the show listening to some guy bashing them.

08-08-2007, 09:15 PM
Rage Against the Machine for sure.

I mean why would they pass up another festival?

ficklecycle
08-08-2007, 09:16 PM
Yeah Rage is probably in.

ThomThom
08-08-2007, 09:19 PM
What's weird is that I had this eerie feeling that Rage would do this. If KROQ pulls SP and RATM out of their ass, then the entire state of California will be there.

suprefan
08-08-2007, 09:27 PM
Billy cares.. Trent Reznor cared when he did Acoustic x mas in 2005, thus why he went 2nd to last with his full production mind you and then left it up to System of A Down to go through their set with meh lights and just 90 mins of what they do to finish the evening which almost put me to sleep sadly and I love SOAD.

AAM!!!
08-08-2007, 09:27 PM

its not the smashing pumpkins thats all

08-09-2007, 12:10 AM
Well, that's different. In that case, Rage is the headliner of one day, while Billy's ego is the headliner of the other. In the case of LA Invasion, there would only be one day, so only one headliner.

Wow, you got some balls. DM got their asses handed to them that night. Don't forget DP was after Depeche Mode ok? So me walking over to the Sahara while DM finished up their weak encore(yes it was a weak encore) to witness one of the top 3 performances of the weekend and one of the most memorable of the entire festivals history, instead of sticking around and listening to one of the most forgettable headliner performances. And I really like Depeche Mode.

Yeah you better go see Radiohead then compare everyone else to them and shut your mouth.

And I stayed until the end of the Acoustic x mas show in 2004 with JEW and ran into Carlos D after the show and talked to him, and then got laid by some cutie I met at the show. But I digress.....

bballarl
08-09-2007, 12:13 AM
Quick thing. I understand ripping Billy because of his ego. But let's be honest: he's written two classic records and lots of really good songs. He is good. Earnest and insecure maybe, but good.

woogie846
08-09-2007, 12:14 AM
Well, in my opinion, last year's Inland Invasion had two headliners: Guns 'n Roses and Alice in Chains. I know GNR are much bigger, but maybe.

Sometimes I regret not trying to see Cat Power instead of seeing Franz Ferdinand, especially since I was all the way in the back (gave up my Sigur Ros spot in an attempt to catch the end of Ladytron's set). My logic was I was more likely to see Cat Power at a solo gig than Franz Ferdinand. I have no idea what I did between FF and DM...I was really fucking stoned. I probably lied back and took a little nap. Or just watched the sky, because it was gnarly, man. Seriously, the way all the searchlights point up at the sky crookedly is fun to watch when high.

When I finally made it near the tent for Ladytron I didn't like what I heard at all, and didn't bother going inside. Instead I got some bbq and then sat down a hundred miles away from the main stage. I was really looking forward to Ladytron, too. Maybe it's a good thing I apparently didn't miss much, because they were up against Sigur Ros. And I wasn't going to miss them for anyone.

Damn, are people needy or what? It's okay to be alone for a while. Yeah, it's more fun to see a band with friends, but the world's not going to end if you don't. I expect this from girls, but I see guys doing it all the time.

Oh yeah, Sigur Ros live >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ladytron live

Sigur Ros' songs, like a lot of bands, have a completely different energy live than they do on disc. I saw them for the first time at the Wilshire in 2002, kind of a weirdly formal seated venue, but their playing was absolutely ferocious. The Mogwai comparisons made a lot more sense to me after seeing the show.

It's really going to take something special for me to want to be surrounded by KROQ listeners for an entire day.

I haven't ever been to one of their concerts.

Same here. I prefer to throw my dollars at organizations that I respect (fuck you KROQ). I have gone twice but only because the lineup could not be passed up (thanks again for not showing up Morrissey-your makeup show rocked).

I enjoyed Daft more than Radiohead.

Here we go...

Good to hear Ficklecycle. Your posts suggests that you get around and this comment heps sooth the screaming in my head about missing Radiohead at Coachella.

what!?
i saw them at the arrowhead pond and it was the best concert ive been to untill daft but i think there tied though

dave never stops moving
the crowd sing alongs
martin's solo songs
everything
sucks they didnt keep you hooked
i would have sat infront of the mainstage all day

and i just found out there gunna be in the studio again starting in feb
DM fall tour 08!!!

I thought their Arrowhead pond show was better than their Coachella set. I personally had a problem with the bright white lights that they kept flashing at the crowd for no apparent reason.

Its the venue. I think was not the right environment to see them live. They may have actually put a good show at Glen Helen. Somewhere remote where they are the main attraction rather than being in a festival slot.

Anyways, I wasnt saying Sigur Ros are boring live. I have never seen them. I havent even ever watched any videos of them. I was just wondering, considering thier music is calm and the such... what makes their live show so entertaining? Just because a show was boring, doesnt mean the music doesnt sounds good. I have no doubt they sound amazing live.
Thank you too the others who answered my question. :)

Boourns
08-09-2007, 03:13 PM
Well Sigur Ros can't dance around on-stage and such (doing that when playing a guitar with a cello bow is a good way for Jonsi to pop out his other eye), but what makes their shows exceptional is not just that their music sounds amazing, but their intensity and passion is apparent not just in the soul-shattering soundscapes but also by merely watching them. That's what separates them from bands like Interpol that just stand there playing everything just like it sounds on CD, but without passion. And the drummer can't possibly be human.

Ardentbiscuit
08-09-2007, 03:58 PM

You're kidding right? Have you seen Daniel Kessler rock out? On his knees, on the speakers, everywhere. The man has moves. & don't get me started on Carlos. His bass goes everywhere when they perform live. Sam is a mad-man on drums and I give him so much credit for being able to perform such amazing lines. As for Paul, the intensity with him is always his vocals because he never sounds the same. I've seen them 9 times and every time, his vocals sound different with their own sort of intensity.

As for Sigur Ros, I'm sure they're fucking BEASTS live (in a good way), and I'd love to catch them.

I don't know if we will get a solo LA gig. The only possible date would be September 14 and September 20. Doing that would have them playing 4 days in a row and having to travel far distances to make their next gigs. This is probably it. And as such, I think I will have to go to this as the other nearby dates do not fall on weekends.

NVM, I am out, so stupid, DROP THE PRICES!!! I can undertsand Acoustic X mas being pricey since all the money goes to charity and its a small venue and the line up can usually justify price, but s**t.

I don't know, being that Los Angeles is on their tour itinerary through the ipod presales as well as on the back of their shirts there should be a solo gig planned around this KROQ fest, maybe Firday the 14th? Or before Vegas on the 11th and 12th. The only other logical date may be after SD on the 20th but that would be really stupid to go up against Damien Rice and Arcade Fire/LCD which play on the same night.

Not to mention they are in the Seattle area the night after that. I would imagine they are using a tour bus to transport their materials. That might be asking a lot of them. I think the best shot that LA has for a solo date would be before Vegas, but that would be pretty unlikely I'd imagine. No way they play that many consecutive dates.

Remember though that the iTunes presale originally listed an LA date, but this was removed days before the album was released. The reason why? SP probably secured the slot for this festival between the time the iTunes pre-order was announced and the release of the album. I would imagine KROQ would not allow a presale to their show based on an iTunes order of only one of the artists featured on the bill. And in regards to the presale, they ARE playing LA. Just because it is a festival does not mean it wouldn't be featured on the shirt.

My prediction: We will not be seeing SP solo until next year.

I'm still going with either The Greek or The Forum sometime in September, there's no way they can skip LA...This shitty KROQ shit-fest cannot suffice an LA gig for myself and many others (I assume).
