One year from today, the summer 08 Olympics will be held in china ….. Is anyone lucky enough to be going? … Are you interested in the games in general and will watch part of them on TV ….I know we won’t be able to go (have to be here for the riots during the DNC :)) … I will watch it on TV I know because I really enjoy the games …. I like the winter ones because I used to snow board and ski and all of that, plus living here in Colorado, you tend to like outdoor things …. I know as usual the tickets will be out of reach for most everyone in china that’s for sure … but you know they will go all out to show the world what a great place china is … up for debate to say the least … and I hear one of the biggest problems is the pollution is so bad, they might have to move some of the games to the country side and away from the city …. Oh and ps, I think Colorado is the only place that flat out turned down the Olympics …. Don’t know if that is super cool or really daft … cry

Well, I probably will since I'm a sports fanatic and I've done the whole "wake up at 3 am to watch the World Cup" bit.

I just feel bad for the poor Chinese athletes... You know what happens to losers in China... It's not pretty.

CR...,
Do you know where the games are being held, specifically? I will quite probably be in China next summer, traveling through Shanghai, Nanking and Beijing (and hopefully taking the Trans-Siberian Railroad to Russia)

They can't move events to the countryside. There's no time. Everyone will be wearing masks and getting face cancer and dying on the field. This is how they will look:

That's my girl. She could clear out the pollution but she's busy fighting Russians.

Poke yourself in the eye, if you have never cried at some point in your life while watching the Olympics.

If I end up going, and it seems really likely, I'll be teaching at an elementary school in Nanking for a month with some friends. We're wanting to travel afterwards, so hopefully we get there.

Summary executions. Still, a lot of money to be made over there in the next thirty years or so. Just don't fuck up.

Not a big sports fan, but my wife is. We went to hotlanta in '96. Left the park about 25 minutes before the bomb went off. Jack Mac and the Heart Attack were playing. Good times.

F the Olympics. :2c

it's NanJING, not Nanking...
please remember so u don't look like a ignotard

BEI = North
NAN = South
JING = capital

so Beijing means "North Capital" and Nanjing "South Capital"

I'm just happy that there are only two awards available for the Chinese athletes this time, either Gold or the firing squad. Makes it more dramatic.
