Could be in the lounge, but whats it matter? I'm going, I'll report back.

Wheres the beef?
08-07-2007, 09:22 PM
Maybe cause it is "too angry" for the Coachella crowd.

I will be at the SF show. I am planning on taping the whole day to get as much xp as possible. I am really looking forward to Jedi Mind Tricks, Murs, Cypress Hill, Grouch & Eligh, and Rage.

I hope the "secret guest" is Psycho Realm. That would be TOoooooo SICK.

i'm going to the SF one. unfortunately i'm going with friends who wanna see rage but i'll probably peace back to the car after the wu are over if i can manage to get ouf of the pit. fuck rage.

i've seen most of the people playing and it sucks that they get like 45 minutes each but i'm really fucking excited to see nas and public enemy. it's not gonna be coachella or a daft punk show but it'll be fun.

New York already happened. Apparently it wasn't so exciting. Zach ranted agaijn once and only once like he did at Coachella and talked about how the media got it wrong or whatever referring to the Hannety and Colmes piece.

I heard Public Enemy was just not what they used to be and I know they haven't been in a while. Apparently Chuck D was about to start a song and Flava Flav was freestylin or somethin' and chuck cut him off and Flava wasn't happy wit it.

Wu Tang is still sad about ODB and not nearly the group they were when he was alive.

All in all sounds like shit.

I heard the same thing about the NY show. Everyone tried to be political and I guess it kinda killed the whole vibe. That is why I chose to sell my VIP ticket. Nas is the only one I haven't seen out of the line up and I would love to see him, but Nas at his best doesn't compete with Daft Punk at their worst so I am using my funds for that instead, VEGOOSE! I would rather see Nas headline his own show than a festival anyways, heard he wont even play Either despite the whole crowd yelling for it.

Dammit I wish I could go, I'll be out of town. That's one of the best hip hop line ups I've ever seen. If Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, and Christopher Wallace himself were on that line up, I would be convinced that I died of shock and I was now in heaven.

Pretty disorganized, but surprising everything ended on time.

Nas only performed 2 songs during The Roots set (with them playing the tracks).

Rage's set made the Coachella performance look like a tea party. Plenty of different tracks on the set list.

All of that having been said, I'm not going back to the Pavilion if Jesus Christ and the 12 Apostles are playing the entire Dark Side of the Bible record with the Vatican orchestra.

suprefan
08-12-2007, 02:22 AM
Nas got cut due to the ''technical delay'' of Mos Defs set up which I think is total b.s. and yeha Na did 2 songs during The Roots to make up for it. Wu Tang was the best, srsly Rage got served by them. I like this set by Rage more than Coachella but they still had some problems, especially with Brad's drumming, he seemed to have a timing problem. Lots of photos and video to come.. And yes not very organized and security were water nazis all day. Next week I am going with all my gear. I figured they would be very strict and not let backpacks in as stated on the rules(I do follow the rules sometimes) but they let everyone in and barely patted you down which was a joke. The only reason they moved to Hyundai was cause they wanted a little more $$, they got it wit the $20 parking charge. Also the line to get in was ONE OF THE LONGEST EVER, I improvised thoguh and went to the other entrance and got in just in time to get the end of Pharoahe Monch.

Edit: And Wu Tang NEEDs to be at Coachella, srsly they would be a great second tier act, and we need some more heavy hitters on the hip hop side again. Its hasnt been as stacked as like 2005 was or other years before that.

I didnt get in until 2:30 and I was in line since 12ish. And if you had gone to the other entrance they had will call also and it was insanely short. But nobody knew about the other way so yeah that does suck. And where were you all day? You stay up in the back or were you down in front?

ill be at the sf show! me and my 2 brothers are gonna head out there.

i think the main issue was they had a general admission show at a seated amphitheatre.

hey if anyone lives ro goes into the city this week, go by there and check out the setup id love to se a pic of it...

hopefully guerilla union teamed up with bill graham presents and are gonna use their security. thye may be carnival types, but they can control a group fairly well.

plus this is a ga show going in so everyone knows this is first come, first serve. also its by the cove so u dont have to worry about the heat making people go crazy by 5 pm its gonna be cold and freezing at night if u r not used to it. bring a hoodie!

the main thing im worried about is the line getting in! they way they have its gonna be a single line going into the place which is fucking ridiculous!! but being prepared for it we gonna be in the city by 930 and get in line at 10am! its gonna be the worst part of the day lining up and waiting but i just have a feeling they are gonna have a problem geting people in and its gonna be a cluster fuck to start. and i wanna check out as many bands as possible! plus this is the first big show at the lot A so we shall see

I'll have my Rage videos up tonight.

Review from the L.A. Times

Muted Tone At Rock The Bells

Cypress Hill's B-Real indicated something unsettling about the state of rap music during his band's performance at Saturday's Rock the Bells festival in San Bernardino. "Thank you for coming," Real told the audience. "By being here, you're supporting hip-hop."

Real's gratitude sounded awfully close to a pledge-drive solicitation. It's no secret that mainstream hip-hop's record sales (and arguably, its quality) have taken a nosedive in the last few years. But is it really bad enough that the genre's leading lights have to ask for life support?

Rock the Bells, far and away the largest rap-centric tour in recent history, provided few answers. Headlining agit-prop hard rock band Rage Against the Machine is heavily influenced by early hip-hop, but it's far from an orthodox ambassador. The highest-profile rap groups on the bill, Cypress Hill and Wu-Tang Clan, hit their commercial peaks nearly a decade ago. Latino kids wearing Rage's "The Battle of Los Angeles" shirts far outnumbered those in white Ts. If hip-hop needs support, who might answer in 2007?

Some of the day's most fiery performances came from Minneapolis' Brother Ali and shock-rapper Cage, whose hoarse tales of urban and domestic violence made for unlikely call-and-response cries ("Say 'Teenage death!' ").

Nas, who most clearly addressed rap's identity crisis on his recent album "Hip-Hop Is Dead," didn't arrive in time for his set, leaving genial L.A. rapper Murs to fill in with dark and witty pillow-talk rhymes. Nas turned up later, performing "Made You Look" with the Roots.

Public Enemy played a loose and well-received live-band set.

The Roots and Cypress Hill offered competing versions of hip-hop's current ambitions. The Roots' set found MC Blaq Thought in rare form on the brooding tracks from the group's latest album, the excellent "Game Theory."

Cypress Hill was tight and menacing but bogged down sinewy hits such as "Shoot 'Em Up" with a water-bong fixation that occasionally defanged the group.

It wasn't until Wu-Tang Clan's audience broke through gates and set several large trash fires that any spark of volatility truly caught. Security sprayed mace on large swaths of the crowd, but it did little to calm anyone as the Wu-Tang's battalion of MCs took the stage.

After scores of solo projects, TV shows and the death of Wu-Tang rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard, the Clan seemed invigorated and ready to fight for the genre's relevance with its noirish, labyrinthine rhymes and self-mythologizing. Method Man stood over the crowd, held aloft by fans, and clearly enjoyed his hero's welcome. But it's uncertain if the "W" hand signs were out of resonance or nostalgia for one of the '90s' most innovative groups.

Rage has toned down its vitriol since the band's Coachella reunion. In contrast to the political offensive he launched there, front man Zack de la Rocha told the crowd: "I think that this could potentially be the greatest generation."

Searing cuts including "Guerrilla Radio" and "Bombtrack" sounded as fierce as ever, but four shows into its reunion, even Rage seemed uncertain on what its role in modern music is.

"Everybody wants to know what set you claim," Murs said during his set.

If Rock the Bells is the genre's most forceful live statement, what kind of fan is claiming hip-hop?

"It wasn't until Wu-Tang Clan's audience broke through gates and set several large trash fires that any spark of volatility truly caught. Security sprayed mace on large swaths of the crowd, but it did little to calm anyone as the Wu-Tang's battalion of MCs took the stage."

why? Just go home thrown on some WU and set your couch on fire. Then punch yourself in the nuts and spray mace in your apartment.

Why do this at concert if you are not doing in the streets of your own neighborhood? I understand teenage anger and frustration but why does this animosity not spill over into other facets of your lives

Oh yeah shoot, I forgot about that, I saw a couple people pass out in line also. One girl even puked before hitting the floor and ambulance came an everything. And yes I would not be suprised if Rock The Bells does not come back. They got all the $$ they wanted this year so they better quit while they are ahead. I am glad I only contributed $6 from my wallet to any concession, which was a large coke at the end of the evening.

Went to his show last night at the el rey, 20 minute vocal set + ten minutes of djing before that from the metal faced fool. He was also suffering probably suffering from laryngitis because his voice was sh_t and you couldn't hear what he was saying most of the time. But he never acknowledged it to the crowd nor offered any apologies at the end of his set for such a poor performance. He did only five songs then just walked away from the stage without even saying thanks or goodbye to his fans who paid a hefty $34 bones to see his sorry ass. I saw doom before at coachella and he did put on a tight set but last night was one of the worst shows I have ever been to. You can read more about it in the stonesthrow message boards. In addition, he was a no show to his friday gig at the glasshouse and just cancelled his make-up date tonight. Goldenvoice should never again promote any of his concerts because if anything, he treats his fans like doo-doo.

Still though, a big draw messes up. Its unacceptable to s the paying audience who was really expecting him to be there considering he was there on Saturday and yesterday(i think). And guerilla could be smart and push the start back like 30 mins so it ends at like 10pm. I swear how many people will be present for the first act 10 mins after doors open? But hey, what do they know right? They just want our money.

This is why hip-hop is fucking up so badly. I dont buy music fuck it I dont. I havent bought music in sometime. The hip-hop industry needs to understand that there are fans like me out there. Many many many fans like me. Music needs to evovle from just selling records. The record/album/cd/mp3 for sale industry is becoming a dinosaur, shit Prince knows this and has made a very lucrative business model from it. Im sorry that the hip-hop industry is slow to understand this, but by not showing up for shows and putting an overall shitty performance is only going to turn off the fans in masses and end up destroying your kush lifestyle. Basically you dont want to show up or put on a crappy performance im going to be just as selfish and rob you blind by stealing your "art" and never pay dime one to see you live let alone buy your crappy merch.

but most acts in hip hop dont feel the live vibe. hip hop was built on the wax and the majority dont want to tour cuz they dont have the stomach. they want to make a record, promote it, get the glory, get the money, make a dozen or so appearance and go home! the live hip hop act is rare . honestly i love listening to hip hop with a live band. the ones who get it are building from it like the roots. others just dont have that in them and lets be honest, with rage this is a event. wihout rage, its a good lineup that i would consider.. this is rage plus everyone else so they could have fucking kid rock and limp bizkit befoe rage, im there for rage and to know a few other hip hop legends i can see one time im good with that! :)

I know all the hip hop people there and would be really excited if I didnt know that almost all hip hop shows SUCK DONKEY DICK. Except for the Roots. And I think the key difference there is that they play fucking instruments. If you go to a hip hop show and basically expect to hear your favorite songs "right off the album" you are in for a sorry treat. Its more like listening to alot of rapping an yelling you cant understand with little beats or music. Hip Hop shows suck ass. Id rather see the 5th grade choir at my local elementary school. But none the less I am still excited to see all the artists perform. Hopefully they will blow me away.

I think the best way to have a good time at rock the bells is to come in with lowest expectation possible.

2. How many of you have seen Rage this year?(about a good quarter of them since they went to Coachella)

3. How many of you saw them before they broke up?(20 people raise their hands)

3. i would be one of the 20. saw them in 96 at the tibet festival, in san jose 97 in sacramento and in 99 in sacramento...

i think wu-tang will be good and no one said they wouldnt. but lets just say that put a wu-tang tour out and then a rage tour out and let it go for one year........ tell me who does better. and i dont wanna hear about "oh its a reunion so rage will do better bullshit! " rage left in their prime selling out arenas and could go out and do it now... wu-tang clan cant. thats the fact so just live with it and enjoy the fact that rage is bringing me and a whole bunch of my fellow rage supporters out to see them and we can enjoy the day watching wu-tang warmup the crowd. end of story

the band is nothing without zachs lyrics and zach was nothing without the bands skill. yeah they each did their own thing, and failed. audioslave was more successful than zachs singles but eventually failed also. i couldnt enjoy audioslave because tom played so much like he did in rage but the lyrics werent there. zachs singles were lyrically sound but the beats were for the most part garbage. so to say tom carries rage i think is a load of crap.

Yes M-E-T-H-O-D mutha fuckin MAN!! He is not my favorite member (Rebel INS and the Genius being my top 2) but as far as live shows go Mr. Meth has got to be #1 as far as giving it his all night in and night out. Rage was my first show ever, 12 yrs old my mom took me cuz I won tickets off the radio. Good ol Compton Terrace. Show changed my life, was hooked from then on. Favorite band throughout highschool, I was the epitome of teen angst. Saw them on the Battle of Los Angeles tour, sick! I was about 15 ft away from Morello when the Coachella set kicked off. Sure the adrenaline had me going crazy for awhile, but they just don't do it for me anymore. Maybe some new material will spark my interest again. But the same thing 7 yrs later just doesn't seem to have the same compassion it did. Its probably me and not the band but I dont get that same vibe I did back in the day. They will always be one of my favorites just because of the high school days, but to me Morello is the only one that still has the fire. Of course Zach is still mad (he always will be which is fine) but even he doesn't go nuts like he used to (not saying he should, but its just not the same). It is all my humble opinion so please don't take it as a personal attack.

Mr. Dylanja

Ghostface is my least favorite by far, so to each his own. I'm just saying if anyone makes a particular performance "special" it is almost always Meth.

Yeah I totally know what you mean. The Coachella performance was kind of "meh". It doesnt have the same meaning as it did when I was 16, 17, 18. Musically they are better than most (just my taste in music) but I wasnt jumping and down and going nuts like I did in 99.

Let it be known - Doom is a f'ing joke!

Damn... that sucks. Hope he gets his act together for this weekend, he's one of my biggest attractions. (drivin down from OR on thursday/friday)

sucks to hear that about doom. i've seen him three times (saturday will be four) and they were all pretty good shows. one was opening for talib kweli (when I used to like kweli) (before I knew who doom was) and that was pretty good, and then two of his own shows. he's not de la soul or anything but he does a pretty tight set, even though it's been the same set for a number of years. i was looking forward to him at rock the bells but he's not on the top of my list.

nas, though, i'm probably most excited for him. hell yeahhhhhh

has anyone seen actual pics of the site and how its looking? i recently saw a basic map of how the setup is gonna be. it doesnt look too bad. the main thing is how everyone wil hold up since it is in a parking lot. no shade anywhere (although it is the bay) the only place you can sit will be if you go to take a s**t! im hoping for the best but i know alot of people going to this are not festival tested so we'll see...

Well, I think it will be kind of the same thing as San Bernadino was, every 20 mins or so I inched closer and closer to the stage early in the day. Why? Because people either could not take the heat or just got over the idea of waiting hours and hours to see (insert band name here) There were a few guys who were all ''yeah man Rage is going to be so awesome, we'll be right in front!!''. About 3 hours laer, they got pulled out. This will be an advantage to the small percentage of us that can handle these things and we'll be prepared and we also have that much patience with things. So maybe I luck out and get even closer this time than last week.

yeah once public enemy goes on, ill be exclusively at the main stage. i wanted to see the coup again but they moved them to later in the day and against the wu-tang and i saw the coup at coachella so ill pass them this time and will be at wu-tang.. im gonna realx and chill in the back for the most part. ill 2 fist beers for wu-tang then let the buzz settle for rage! im 36 now and have been in many in-front pit areas so im actually more into just kicking back and enjoying the show as well as the scene itself. but it is the bay so the heat wont be a factor we shall see. :) should be a kick ass time!

the old trick is go to the side of the stage 10 min before the band is done, once they are done people will move and you can move in. i cant begin to tell you how many times i went to a big GA show and got to the front 30 min before the main act doing this... but now im too the point where i dont feel like being squished as much but this is rage! :)

This one didnt have as many people leaving after acts finish. Since its 2 stages, there are not many options ala Coachella when you can put that to oo ue. And the Rage heads just stay until there is no tomorrow. We'll see how it works out, the weather is going to be decent at least. I hope the fog doesnt come in though.

I want to see the Coup. I guess I could go see Mos and leave a little early to get a good spot. But then, I could stay at that stage and watch Blackalicious or try to get over and see Public Enemy. I really wanna see Chuck D. But THEN the problem is that if I'm AT the main stage I'll have to sit there through shitty Cypress Hill when I could be watching Hieroglyphics. But if I sit through shitty Cypress Hill I could be in a good spot for the Wu. This is going to be an adventure.

I hope it's not like New York's was and that you can get around from stage to stage.

Rage was much better than they were at Coachella, Wu Tang were okay, Nas really wasn't there even though Supernatural was like "WHO'S READY TO SEE NAS" at 11am right before he freestyled about his cat for 20 minutes, I got really sunburned, and taking the train sucks a lot.

I had much more fun yesterday than last week in SB. I got into the venue within 15 mins, and I was in a line that stretched around the stadium. A lot better organized than Hyundai and they took care of everyone up front better. WORST THING EVER: Some guy in a electric wheelchair was parked right in front and I end up next to him before Wu Tang and at this point people were shoving so much that I probably wouldve broken my leg. He finally gave in and let himself get taken out. Yeah people have free reign but knowing how that show is, use the handicap features please!! Lots of good pics and video as usual, my ribs hurt like hell and I ended up having an elbow shoved into my lower backfor 20 mins during Rage. Fun times, I made the decision to watch Rage at Vegoose after this one. And trying to catch a freaking cab on Market took FOREVER when I was going back to where I was staying. Got a little burnt but no biggie. Public Enemy dissapointed because they cut their set but whatever. I think Wu was better than last week since they had a ''live'' band adding to the mix, and Method went off even more with this crowd. Anyway, I am at work now trying to stay awake since I havent slept since yesterday. See ya......

a review:

we got there at 10am and got in line. was organized very well. opened at 11am took only about 5 to 10 min to get in from there but the line was going very smoothly..

the setup was actually very coachella like with the white tents and heineken beer gardens. by 3 pm the gardens were packed but everyone was in really good spirits from what i saw.

phoaroach monch i felt was strong again and im really impressed that he puts on such a good festival type show.. good job.

i felt epmd was horrible. almost a waste of time just couldnt get into them at all. cypress hill ive seen a few times and this time i felt it wasnt that great .decent set.

wu-tang did a good job ran myabe a bit too long but method man was really pumped up and it was allose cool set. i dug it.

rage played about a 80 min set start right around 9am. startd with testify and as expected, the place went insane. but what was cool was it wasnt a insane that would start fights. it was organized insanity in the pits and everywhere else. i got right up to the front as clsoe as you can be without getting too crunched.... i dont know about the other shows they have done in nyc and sb, but to me they seemed very emotional, more than usual. and at the end it was nice to see them hug each other like thye just came back from a war and were reunited. it almost looked like it hit them that this was a great night. must of been amazing to see 50,000 people going insane for you music. also the setting was great to look at. it was overall a realy great show. i am burnt and look like a raccoon and ill get laughed at when i go to work mon but im happy! next is vegoose!!

My Rock The Bells review:

The Venue: It was OK for a parking lot. I like that there was the stadium on one end with downton SF and then on the other was the bay and the sign saying "Port of San Franciso". I think the stage was on the wrong end though and should have had ATT park as its backdrop. They did a good job on toilets although it seemed that everyone was in line for the ADA toilets and if you walked an extra 20ft there was a huge corral of toilets with no line whatsoever. Even if you did walk up to these the one in the front had lines as well and if you just walked a little bit further there was no line. People are dumb. I thought they did a piss poor job with the beer garden situation as I thought there was only one beer garden but I guess there were several "secret" beer gardens I never found. At times it sucked because of the bleed over from stage to stage but I am not an acoustical engineer and dont know what could have been done about that.

The weather: I think something deserves to be said about the fact that it was a glorious day. Not too hot during the day and not too cold at night with a gentle breeze. Plus it was sunny in SF and that....well that never happens. It made things much more enjoyable.

Hip-Hop shows: I will never go to a live hip hop show ever again. It just is not my thing. You cant really here the beats just the guys rapping and you can barely understand what they are saying. I cant even tell you who I saw because the set times kept changing up until like the day of. And they were running an hour behind.

Rage: FUCK-ING-KILLED-IT. They killed it. They sounded so good. Tom fucking killed it HUGE. And Zach was very into it. During Bombtrack he was going so nuts that he fell on the monitor behind him. He sounded really good and the way he was singing was a very different spin on say off the album. Times on the album where the lyrics sound very angry he had this very calm and emotional tone to it. Seeing them hug at the end was awesome and all having their fists in the air. Rad.

I, too, feel wrecked by the spoils of Coachella as a festival setting. The parking lot was filthy, bottles and food and crap all over the ground (I stepped in nachos), the sun was brutal with no shade ANYWHERE and soooo many people I felt like a plinko chip. The stages were so close together that anywhere between them you were just washed up in a sea of clashing beats and noises. It was very, very loud, with no place quiet to take a break in.

That being said, the Coup was divine as expected. They brought the funk and it was blissful. You can see how harsh the sun was during their set in my crappy photos:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y209/VJHStarr/boots2.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y209/VJHStarr/boots3.jpg

Before that I enjoyed some of Talib and Mos from the fence at the beer area. After that we watched Public Enemy and the sound was pretty bad but it was still a treat to see Chuck D. for the first time ever. Flava Flav was pretty good too he performed well and didn't ham it up Hollywood style until the end of the set when he plugged Flavor of Love 10 or whatever one they're on. He also brought out his son to dance like him next to him which was cute. Later, we saw Flava and his son at the Burger King on the end of my street:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y209/VJHStarr/flavaflavbk.jpg

They were wearing matching hoodies.

Listened to some of Cypress Hill while sitting on the filthy ground eating spicy pizza. Then listened to some of Hieroglyphics while sitting on the filthy ground drinking beer.

Then we went to watch Wu Tang and tried to get a spot with better sound. We went to the right of the second set of speakers (for Public Enemy we were in front of the second set and decided that was maybe why it didn't sound so hot), and it was slightly better. They were okay. I don't know if I was just so exhausted from the sun but I couldn't get into it. It seemed like the crowd was fading at that point.

I have never seen a crowd like the Rage crowd when Rage played. I couldn't understand a single word Zach said but it seemed to move thousands of people, which was impressive. I wish those kids dressed up like bandits would get active!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y209/VJHStarr/rage3.jpg

Never saw Brad.

the end

ps Tom Morello's guitar said "Arm the Homeless" and I had to chuckle because I would like Tom Morello to spend 24 hours walking around the Tenderloin and tell me whether or not he thinks that's really a good idea when he's done.

pps one more thing was that during Wu Tang, Method Man brought out ODB's son and he to the crowd he was like, "I want all of you to show this kid what you thought of his father" and the crowd was like "WOOOOOOOOOOOOo" and it felt like a nice thing.

I remember i little 16 year old kid waiting for Rage with his mom and dad at Coachella. That little fucking idiot was sitting saving his place for Rage at 230. I was pissed that not even the Roots could make him stand up and enjoy the magic that was happening, so after there set I dumped my 8 dollar beer all over him and told him either stand up or get the fuck in the back and sit down. His dad tried to get all hiffy and shit so I just said fuck it whatever. Rage fans like that are stupid and give all of the other rage fans who love all forms of music a bad name. I don't know if this had anything to do with Rock the Bells but you know, sometimes you have to rant.
Hahahahahahah, it's hard to even begin to fathom how someone could be this ignorant. The 420 in the username seems to be a curse or warning sign of sorts.

Best part of the review. And I was telling my friend about the Tenderloin while trying to catch a cab on Market afterwards, and she found it fascincating. I told her to NEVER go around there if she is ever in SF.

I'll be home soon to put my stuff up and I dont know but it all sounded fine to me, guess being up front had a slight advantage that I had the floor subs and whatnot working for me and not having to worry about the wind messing things up? Also dissapointed in no backround banners being put up for Cypress, Wu Tang and Rage. I was looking forward to everyone going nuts when the red star appeared, but we got shortchanged just by that.

Rage Setlist btw(not in total order)

Testify
People of The Sun
Bomb Track
Vietnow
Know Your Enemy
Sleep Now In The Fire
Renegades of Funk
Guerilla Radio
Bulls on Parade
Bullet in The Head
Calm Like A Bomb
Wake Up

Encore:
Freedom(into Township ending)
Killing In The Name Of

i do agree that hip hop shows tend to be really boring cuz its just rapping over a record. thats why i felt pharoah and the coup were higghlights cuz it sounded tight with a live band..

rage was a beautiful thing. lots of intensity and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. but i am curious to hear opinions on how people felt about seeing them hear, coachella and in sb. how would ou rate it?

i was not at the sb show so i think this one in sf was a overall better performance. obviously the coachella was more of a celebration of a reunion. this one felt more in the now and they seemed now to be very strong again as a unit live. tom was amazing. best ive ever heard him and zack was out of the cage!

Coachella is the weakest of the 3. I liked the SB setlist better, but yesterday had the best vibe and energy so it wins, even though it was the Coachella setlist all over again just in different order.

SF > SB > Coach

Also I think nobody is mentioning the Roots, they were on point, but they rushed their set and I know they cut out a couple of songs. I also enjoyed Talibs set a lot more this time since he brought out Jean Grae at the end, then it properly flowed into Blackstar and then to Mos Def's set like it shouldve in SB, but that obviously didnt happen.

Wheres the beef?

Do you even know what ignorant means, asshole? How on gods given earth would that make me ignorant? It may make me an asshole, irritable, not Coachella like, any of these would of been sufficient, instead you have to show your uncanny command of the English language and call me ignorant. The fact that a 16 year old kid would sit 25 feet away from the stage while 40k plus people are pushing and shoving, is an ignorant thing. Me getting pissed at the kid and the situation was totally justified. And about me having 420 in my name, I am willing to bet I am more successful, more accomplished and more going for me then your piece of shit self. So do me a favor and kill yourself, bitch.

Just got back from SF, I thought Rock the Bells was pulled off pretty well with just a few glitches..

A few points:

1) Rage DID absolutely improve over their Coachella show.. Just a HUGE crowd, insane energy, and an overall nice experience..

2) 2 words: FUCK DOOM.... dude didn't even show up, disappointing..

3) I got pretty close up front at the main stage for The Roots, and got to genuinely enjoy this performance more than at Coachella. I thought they sounded great..One of my highlights..

4) I also was having a good time at Mos Def + Talib Kweli, I was close to the barricade and got some good closeups when they came down to the crowd..Pharoah Monch's set was also pretty good, I liked the two singers he had along with him.. Supernatural was the shit!!.. Hiero was fun, EPMD and Cypress Hill sounded old, Public Enemy had good energy, Sage Francis is kooky..

5) The Venue: Considering it was a parking lot, I thought the setup could've been worse.. The views were sweet, but the grounds became disgusting midway through the day.. Plenty of bathrooms, but I though the two beer gardens were spaced out weird.. I think the one closest to the main stage was alot smaller, WTF?...

Overall not a bad weekend, kids were droppng like flies, I only had a 1/2 charged battery for my camera, got a lil' sunburn, and partied downtown after the show w/a couple drunkies...

So from what it sounds like, Rage has improves their sound a lot from Coachella? I fuckin LOVED Rages set at coachella. But I could tell Zach was having problems with has voice. He sounds like he is back to his old self though. Tim's bass should have been turned WAY the fuck up at Coachella too. I am now re-excited to see Rage at Vegoose! They are playing the night before in New Orleans too, so they should be all warmed up. In all this vegoose excitement, see Gogol the third time, seeing Daft Punk the second time, as well at QOTSA, Muse and Iggy and my discovery of this amazing band, some of you may have heard of them, they are called "Battles" or something... I have almost forgotten Rage are fucking playing!!! Im stoked!!!

about the weather, WTF was up with the damn sun?? of all the things i do in SF the one day i plan on being outside all fucking day, guess who else wants to hang out? the fucking sun.

someone had said something about the sun and stepping in nachos, the people here were fucking dirtbags. but in their defense there wasnt nearly as many garbage cans as there is at coachella, BUT i was pleased to see the recycling bins.

port-o-potty access waspretty good considering the amount of people, yeah they were n ot too bright crowding up on the first few they saw.

this isnt alaska weirdo

its not florida either sucka. as much sun as was going on sat. doesnt happen everyday in SF.

and ill add to this.

Spring through fall, Anchorage's climate is similar to San Francisco's spring weather, with temperatures that can reach into the 70's. Summer highs average 65 degrees F/18 degrees C.
from www.anchorage.net/weather.

also from http://travelalaska.com/Regions/TipsDetail.aspx?FAQID=76&PageTitle=Daylight

we get this.

During the summer months, Alaska enjoys extended daylight hours throughout the state. The further north you travel, the more pronounced the difference. In Anchorage, for example, the sun rises at 4:30 a.m. and sets as late as 11:42 p.m on the longest day. And in Barrow, the northernmost town in Alaska, the sun doesn't set for 84 days! This phenomenon is aptly called the "Midnight Sun."

so if it were alaska i might even be more sunburned.

What the hell? Yeah its not Alaska. How hard was it to check the weather before you went to the show? Also they sold packets of sunblock for like $4 at some merch booths. The Coup played at like 7?(check the set times I posted a few pages back if you want) Oh and I keptlaughing at the idiots who kept checking their programs and thinking those set times were even correct. They even misprinted times for one of the NYC shows, how bad can Guerilla Union get? More stuff when I come home from work. And I am paying the price for being up front, my body is badly bruised now.
