I'm very jealous. RTB will be sweet, but 10 bucks to see the Time in my own backyard without driving for 6 hours and spending money at a hotel is to good.

It's walking distance for me too. I'll be there, mostly for the Buzzcocks.
I'm not too keen on Morris Day & the Time, from what I heard, they were hours late for their set at the Gay Pride fest, and playing at the Gay Pride fest pretty much means you're irrelevant these days anyways. Seriously, their big headliners recently were Berlin?

"WOOOO! WE LOVE YOU, INTERPOL! PLAY 'LOVE WILL FUCKING TEAR US APART!'"

When I first heard She Wants Revenge, I thought it was electronic side project from the lead singer of Interpol. I soon found out their singer is a black guy. Anyways, fuck what all of you say. I saw SWR last year, and they put on an incredibly good, fun and entertaining live show. And they musicaly sound NOTHING like Interpol. I dont get why you call them an Interpol cover band. Also, if you are trying to make a joke by mixing their lyrics with Joy Division lyrics, it isn't funny.

If you think that's bad, some bint thought "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was a "new She Wants Revenge song"...yikes.

Ahaha, I knew this girl who asked if "Karma Police" was by Coldplay. But she had an excuse...she was Russian.

Yeah, it's not funny how this band attempts to capitalize off the sound of the vocals of Paul Banks, and therefore Ian Curtis, and then takes it one step further by titling one of their songs in an obviously similar way to Joy Division's most well-known song. It's sad.

Why does crap always come in pairs? Editors, too. Their singer even imitates Ian Curtis' epilepsy on-stage.

I don't think it can sell out, and you probably have to get your tickets there. It's a wristband situation, which is cool. In 2005 I got bored and hot and went to Amoeba for a while and then came back hours later.

The song is called "Tear You Apart" The Joy Division song is called "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Ok. It shares two words. But the chorus goes, "I want to fucking tear you apart" and the subject matter of the song is nothing like Love Will Tear Us Apart. Sure Joy Division are an influence to them, but it doesnt mean they are trying to BE Joy Division. And basing your logic of there being two words shared in song titles, is just stupid. Also, its not the guys fault if he has a similar voice to the guy in Interpol.

So while you all were out there did anyone of the non-believers finally come to the realization that Joy Division > New Order or at the very least Joy Division = New Order.

In reading through this thread, it seems as though some people need to go back and revisit the Joy Division catelog. I listened to "Atmosphere" tonight and the damn song still gives me goosebumps.

RotationSlimWang
08-19-2007, 02:27 AM
Yeah, there were WAY too many fucking people there. I didn't even realize I was going to this until I got there tonight and started going insane from trying to push through the throng of people next to the stage. By the time I started hearing a song I recognized I had already decided the band were assholes on account of forcing me to stand around waiting for a bunch of LA assholes to fucking move. Then I realized it was Blonde Redhead, and felt bad.

Then I still had to push through like 10 more minutes of people just to get to the two lines you had to stand in for beer. I hate my skin, and bones as well, and people. And Ben Harper is just more jam band bullshit.

See, that's what I've been saying. Mostly because it's the truth. Joy Division is fantastic. I'm reading Touching From a Distance right now tho, and Ian Curtis sounds like a gigantic asshole.

My GF and I got to the stage like half an hour before Autolux, we like 10 rows back but Autolux was amazing. I have a bunch of pictures but won't get any up until Monday.

It got fucking packed as hell before Blonde Redhead and getting out of there was a fucking mission but their performance made it so worth it. We got closer by the time they got on, and I got amazing shots at first. It was a good good good show.

Buzzcocks were good at sunset junction tonite aside from sound problems.
I hated the crowd, but I expected to. Everyone was too cool to do anything except stand perfectly motionless. They did play "Why Can't I Touch It" though.
We got there at 6 and split right after they were over at 8, I wanted no part of She Wants Crappy Music, hundreds of boring food vendors and baby stroller gridlock.

who cares? even with the strollers and crappy food the damn festival was fun. atleast for my friends and i it was. the only shitty thing was the whole wait in line to buy a ticket then wait inline to use said ticket at a beer vending booth. what a crock! we opted for the beer and liquor at the liquor store and just bringing it in undercover. buzzcocks were the shit!! lots of energy. i also enjoyed the aggrolites alot more than i thought i would. big fucking party.

Strollers were the force yesterday. Not sure what to say about the girl who had her baby on her shoulders during the Buzzcocks (breaking her in early). I need to find out why the festival's space was cut in half. I wanted to grab a beer at Good but it was outside the parameter of the gates. The sausage vendor made a 1/2 decent dog though they looked at me like weirdo for asking for mustard that had not been sitting in the heat. Biggest celebrity viewing other than David Arquette, "KROQ Ken".

I went to a reception for the opening of a new exhibition at some random art gallery in West Hollywood and No Age was going to play. Some lady walked in with the baby and the band asked her if she could leave just while they play because they didn't want to harm the baby.
