I wonder... if everyone knew they were dancing to Barry Manilow's voice, would they stop dancing?

Taken from Larry King interviewing Barry Manilow in 2006 (may have been posted here before, forgot where I read it first):

MANILOW: ...But, you know -- it's interesting, since the art of song writing seems to have taken a nosedive, I've gone the way of what they call electronica music. I know, it's kind of odd. It's very bizarre music. But it is kind of -- they're breaking the rules, and they're inventive. As a musician...

KING: Electronica?

MANILOW: It is called electronica.

KING: Is it gimmicky?

MANILOW: It is not gimmicky. It is interesting music, interesting grooves, interesting ways of playing music. There is no lyrics, hardly any lyrics.

So we are doing favorite Daft Punk songs now? that's a hard one, but at the moment i would have to say Face to Face. Those lyrics are oh, so haunting.

It never occurred to me to start another Daft Punk thread....opportunity missed!
But just for the record, the best Daft Punk song is - Daft Punk are playing at my house - by LCD Soundsystem.

god damn, like theres not enough dp threads around here already. seriously, if anybody feels the need to make another dp thread, make sure its about double penetration and not daft punk, cuz there is already way more than enough daft punk to go around this board. double penetration, on the other hand...well you can just never have enough of that...unless its your girlfriend, then maybe...

seriously though, im starting to get sick of daft punk because of this board.

I'm inclined to agree. It is getting kind of silly. But you know what in a month or so it will die down.

Lol yeah. It will probably be after Vegoose around late November that things will die down then we will have a month off before the Coachella lineup is announced and then there will be no stopping.....

Outkast + Daft Punk.

My two all time favorite groups.

Although, Outkast's best work was PRE-STANKONIA.

I can't see this happening, but with them in Vegas, so close to Phoenix (sorta), it would be totally cool if DP came to Arizona. Then I wouldn't have to sweat about Vegoose.

Superheroes is probably the most energetic song by DP. No other song by them gets me hyped up as much as Superheroes does.

but the best by them?

mmm Face to Face, Aerodynamic, Superheroes, Human After All and Around the World.

i'm also surprised no one said Da Funk.

as for GREATEST SONG(s) EVER...

radiohead - subterranean homesick alien
massive attack - butterfly caught
rage against the machine - down rodeo

I first thought Cressendolls was my favorite on Discovery, then I was sure it was Harder Faster better Stronger, then it became Face to Face for a while, then Superheroes, but I think ultimately in the end (or just the phase Ive been in for the last year or so lol) Aerodynamic is their best song.

lol you guys should have seen me at Coachella during Cressendolls and One More Time/Aerodynamic/Superheros. Best moments of my life lol

You gotta get back to the ROOTS KIDS!!!! Everyone who is old-skool will admit that rollin n scratchin is the most epic track ever! When homework came out i used to hear that song every fuckin day everywhere i went in NYC..........and still to this day! I saw felix da house cat saturday at Avaland and he opened with it.........other dj's ive seen play it include Justice, Fatboy Slim, Mstrkrft, Aphex Twin, Crystal Method............the list goes on and on

in conclusion: the greatest song ever is Rollin' N Scratchin'...........listen to homework more.......

P.S. it seems the majority of people here enjoy discovery more than homework........am i right to make this assumption? like i said before..GET BACK TO THE ROOTS!

Don't tell me about back to the roots because I fell in LOVE with Daft through Homework when I was only 9 years old. The first songs I heard were Rollin' & Scratchin' and Phoenix. After Discovery came out, I loved them even more but if they had never released Homework, I don't know if I'd feel the same about them.

Point is, Homework is what got me hooked, but Superheroes is the GREATEST SONG EVER.

Id say that the peak of Rollin' and Scratchin' in the live set is the obligatory get off your feet and go fucking crazy! part.

And the supereheroes/human after all finale justs makes me want to dance until I die.
