I must have just missed you and GPS that day. I saw Ron & Tyger, Somewhat Damaged, g0k1ngsg0, meyouseek (from Vegoose board), and...hmmm...Ivan do you have a british accent? Forgot who that was.
Nope it wasn't me. i sound like the typical Southern California idjit. Ron told me of the group over by the impersonator tent. i rolled by and couldn't figure out what was what and ran onto more picture taking.

what the hell was that song they played. it was like 3 songs into their set i couldnt figure out if it was a cover or if it was new. and i havent been following their setlists. but whatever it was it was filthy
It sounded to me like a long intro to Vietnow. Hopefully I'm wrong and it branches out into a new song. And yes, they should make a new album.

yeah it was a really fun festival. would love to see it happen again but who knows at this point. but regardless once it was over, all i kept thinking was "ok we are now around 180 days til coachella 08!" so the countdown is on and for the next 3 months we can speculate who is gonna headline. but this festival was alot of fun.. everyone was in good spirits except the actual security which sucked, but the actual festivalgoers were all good!

Though I did spend some time on Infogoose I prefer to call the Coachella board home. I suppose I gotta get my post count up to garner more respect around here.
It was great to put some faces to the screen names. We'll have to do it again sometime.

Ah yes...here's a Charlie brown picture for your reference. I do like the idea of "a costume within a costume"...something to think about for next year. :)

Yeah, I think it was in this thread, or it could have been one of the other multiple halloween threads.
I was on the right side for Daft too. I was right at the edge of the barrier, and a few people in front of it. It was good view.

The coolest part of Muse was when Matt was fucking with the theramin in his guitar, and the light reflected off the guitar, and he aimed it at the airplane an followed it down as it was landing.
This guy beside me who was tripping out was like "Dude! Matt is totally gonna land the plane RIGHT HERE in the field. Then everybody is going to get out and dance to Muse!" It was awesome.
I think Plug In Baby and Hysteria were my two favorite songs of theirs. And I just noticed were didnt get a single song off of Showbiz. Not even Sunburn. Lame.

Also, I dont know the order of songs after Tire Me. All I know, I was stoked to hear Tire Me.
Biggest disapointments in Rage for me.
1) Vodka in the eye. Not fun.
2) No speech from Zach. Seriously? Comon.
3) Nothing off Renegades. Again. Seriously?
Rage were still awesome though.

Just got back from Vegas today, and I had a blast at Vegoose!!
A very mellow vibe throughout the weekend, I thought the weather was perfect, and the music was excellent.. There was, however, a certain buzz going around about the "end" of Vegoose. And most "veterans" of the festival seemed to be pretty downtrodden, they believe each year has gotten worse..
Nonetheless I had an awesome time..
Gogol were fantastic once again...I showed up about 10 minutes after their set begin and wasn't able to leave.. Insane energy, an enthusiastic crowd, fun show!! My only regret was missing all of Battles..:(
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02630.jpg
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02645.jpg
Moved on to Blonde Redhead, caught a glimpse of CanExplain in his dog suit walking past the soundboard.. I thought the band sounded really nice, I didn't really know much of their music but got into the mode.. Sweet vocals..
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02664.jpg
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02667.jpg
I stayed for about half the show then moved on to STS9.. One of the biggest surprises for me, I really got into them.. Huge pockets of the crowd were dancing like lunatics, niice..
I was very curious to see how Mastodon fit into this bill... I strolled over to the main stage, and started to hear some serious shredding.. I thought they were on point, very crisp.. The only downside was the crowd, they seemed lethargic, and thus killing my enjoyment after about 5 songs.. Back to STS9..
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02677.jpg
I don't know what most of you guys were thinking, but I thought Atmosphere killed it...
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02708.jpg
I hung around for a little bit of Cypress Hill, chuckled a bit at their huge-ass inflatable "skeleton king" on stage..
M.I.A,just like at the Treasure Island Music Festival, OWNED!!
I really like most of QOTSA's music on all of their albums, but live they are VERY by-the-book... They sounded very good, but very little showmanship..
Once again, like I was telling people after the T.I. Festival, Thievery Corporation was incredible... I love the vibe around their shows..
And to end it all on Saturday...Daft Punk was fucking insane!!
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02759.jpg
My Sunday was pretty short, the disadvantages of rollin' with a big crew.. We finally showed up at about 4, I was REALLY pissed about missing Ghostland...
Micheal Franti & Spearhead were outstanding. They played a very diverse set, and had the crowd's interaction from start to finish.. Very impressed..
I also enjoyed myself at Infected Mushroom, definitely redeeming themselves to me for Coachella's performance.. They seemed to really enjoy their time on stage, and had the kids dancing away..
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02773.jpg
The rest of the night we were parked at the Double Down...
I was really anticipating Muse, and at first was slightly dissapointed with the lack of their huge video setup.. This all disappeared when the opening moments of "Knights of Cydonia" began to play..Sweet..
And lastly, what else is there to say about Rage... They are back to top form for the moment, and I enjoyed them even more at Vegoose with a group of my eager friends..
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/Gmoneyak2/My%20real%20pics/DSC02840.jpg
Cheers!!

This has been endlessly being discussed/mentioned in other/all Muse message boards and yet I have not seen a single pic or video. Come on guys, upload it already. (supre/Chris, I'm counting on you!) :dumbo
Oh well, it's like the spectacular moments (so mesmerizing that everyone forgot to take pics or shoot it in video - up to now I have not seen a video of it) of beautiful lanterns, fueled like hot air balloons that were set off into the sky behind the AT&T stage where Muse performed at ACL Festival. I tried to take pics or video during Bob Dylan's the next night but I can hardly see them in my vid/cam screen.

duuuude rob, guess who i met. fuckin james lavelle cheeeahhhh. and yeah they were ok. i ended up going to the first 4 songs of muse and then watched all of unkle. the old songs were crazy cool and we were lucky enough to have lupe fiasco come out at the end and rap over chemistry which is probably one of those, we are only gonna do this once kinda things. so all in all i think it was the right choice

I loved the use of the Kaoss pad by Matt. I just wish they had giant screens like Coachella so you could see him using it better. Just like I wish they had the screens for Daft Punk. I like seeing close ups of them and then being able to see their backs when they turn around at the end.
I had a great time at Vegoose. Loved Daft Punk, love M.I.A., loved Infected Mushroom.
Can't believe I waited for that stupid AXE Haunted/Fun House thing. It was boring and I hated having to put my hands on another person's shoulders in front of me. I felt like I was in prison.
It's amazing how much they have cut since the first year. No stadium, one less stage, no free CD, no guide books on the second day, etc. But yet I still had a great time! :)

Yeah, you had to walk through the entire thing with both your hands on the shoulders of the person in front of you. About 7 to 10 people at a time. They said it was for the safety of the girls, it just really sucked.

Okay, I just wanted to add I need to sleep for a week now...
Friday night I went to Empire Ballroom for Uberzone and Crystal Method.
Saturday - Vegoose...
Saturday night - LAX at the Luxor (was in VIP area, saw Barry Bonds and George Maloof)
Then went to Voodoo Lounge at the Rio that night.
After that went back to Empire with Sandra Collins.
Sunday, went to Vegoose again.
Sunday night went to Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Stopped by Cesars and checked out the Pussycat Dolls Casino. Can't believe how hot the dealers were.
Then I went by Mirage and checked out Revolution Lounge and Jet for minute.
Monday drove back and then went to Springsteen at LA Sports Arena.
Tuesday I worked, Tuesday night I went to see New Young Pony Club and Muscles at Echo.
Now I need to pass out, sorry kids, no candy. :)

To explain the previous question about the AXE haunted/fun house. First of all, you had to wait in a long line, secondly, you were only allowed to go through it once a day (I don't think they had that problem).
They put everyone in a line and make them put both their hands on the person's shoulder in front of you. You have to keep your hands like that for the entire time you are walking through.
They said it's for the safety of the girls but it makes it uncomfortable to walk through like that. They also make sure a girl is in the front.
Before you enter you have to put on 3D glasses which makes it hard to see because it's so dark inside.
As you walk through the maze there are lots of paintings (supposed to be sexy), lots of splashed black light paint (looked like Jackson Pollock on acid). There is a guide who talks to you. There are some girls who jump out at you, breath on your neck, spray Vice bodyspray on you, etc. There are a few girls who act a little sexy and some girls who strut around a bit.
And there are some noise makers that make loud explosions to scare you.
Pretty much just a time waster/filler activity.
I just went in because there was a portion of no music during the day.

you can see the light reflecting from matt but what you can't see is him directing the beam across the crowd. part of it was becuase I couldn't look away to make sure I was getting a good shot and part of it was the idiot rage fans pushing people and stuff.

Thanks man, some idiot commented on it on youtube and said I was a pu**y for doing it. Like it was the coolest thing to do, and why not watch everyone going apes**t from up there? You can show your friends and point to them where you were instead of like '' I was in the front''. Now you can say ''I was right there!!'' and they will go ''ooooh''
My fave part is the begining of the first one, you hear me say ''oh my god.... what the......DUUUUUUUUDE!!'' with a raspy voice, just insane.

where were you at? I was to the left of the center aisle in front of the VIP area.
the group around me were mostly rage fans and mostly assholes. they were talking about how crazy they were gonna get and where they were gonna be during rage. a few of the harder muse songs shut them up but as soon as something mellow would come on they would start talking again or chanting to bring out rage...
like i said on the vegoose board, as much as I love tool and like rage, their fans are the worst when you are seeing a group other than rage/tool. and I also figured out that they are the same people, since rage fans talk about tool and vice versa as well.

You should have been on the right hand side of the stage. The crowd was A LOT less dense, and everyone was stoked to see Muse. Everyone around me started chanting "MUSE! MUSE!" as soon as they left the stage... but it quickly fizzled out. Likely because the asshole fans didnt want anymore Muse.
Also, that is a great picture of Becky and I at your place Ron. Thanks! Oh, how did your sister do in her tournament?

Yep, right side was the way to go. If you just think about how peopel are, they go directly to the first place they see, and that was the left part of the stage. Who woudl think to go around to the right? Anyone if they got there early enough couldve gotten a prime spot for Rage if they went on the right. For DP on Saturday, it was EMPTY after Cypress Hill.

Exactly. I couldnt believe how empty it was after Cypress Hill actually. I could have gotten a spot right at the gate for QOTSA. I knew I was gonna leave for Iggy and the Stooges, so I didnt. The spot I did get though, was damn good.
However, after the Stooges ended... I walked right back into my place where I was for QOTSA, it was perfect for Daft Punk
Funny enough, where I was for Muse, was the same spot I was for QOTSA and Daft Punk. And for Rage I was a little right of that.
Anyone who was on the left side was just plain silly.

I was surprised how many people left after Muse. So were the gate people, as they hadn't figured out a way to get crowds out and in at the same time. For every two Rage-idiots coming in, there was one person trying to get out and they didn't know what to do with us
(I call them idiots not because they wanted to see Rage, but because they were showing up at EIGHT O'CLOCK. I didn't stay because I was freakin tired and I've seen them before.)

This set was MUCH better than Coachella. I left their set back in April during Renegades of Funk 'cause I never really cared for that song and I thought they sounded rusty (which I suppose was to be expected). I left early again for Vegoose but this time it was due to my being tired and my ride only being available to pick me up at a particular time.

Because Wake Up was substituted with War Within A Breath...and instead of doing a speech in the middle of the break in that song, they just kinda extended the slow guitar and Zach stood their in silence. I don't think they like playing Wake Up (and doing big speeches) back to back. I think they only did Wake Up once during their back to back NY Rock the Bell shows too.

Man, it looks like I just missed a couple of RATM songs. I would like to hear "Ashes in the Fall" and was actually thinking I'd be kicking myself because I figured they'd play that after I left. Now my one complaint of their set was Tim's voice on "Guerilla Radio." It just sounded goofy.
M.I.A.'s set has grown on me over the past few days, as has Kala (which was already one of my favorites of 2007; now it's #2 behind In Rainbows). My boss was playing it seemingly all day today. And now to hear that she didn't start till after 1 and that it was sparsely occupied, meaning I could've gotten in fairly easily? Argh!

That was a new song that RATM played. Vegoose kicked so much ass. It was like a laid back, no scenster Coachella. I loved it can't wait till next year.
Widespreed Panic was amazing...

Just wanted to thank the people around me at RATM, for not being assholes! I ended up against the barrier by the speakers on the left side of the stage, and I was kind of leery about staying there, but it turned out to be just fine. There was a constant stream of people being pulled out of the pit area, many of them over my head, but I did not get squished or bruised in any way.
It seems silly for me to be at the front at my age (47)! I ran over to the stage right after Infected Mushroom was over, and was able to get in the front for Muse, and I just stayed for Rage. It's funny, the people at Muse were much more obnoxious in general, lots of young females with way too much to drink, and no manners (talking through all the quiet parts), and chain-smoking. During Rage, everyone was into the music, so no worries about the annoying drunks.
It seemed like the whole crowd left after Muse and was replaced by a completely different crowd. I don't know if anyone else stayed for both shows.

So I forgot to mention 2 Vegoose antecdotes.
I saw a guy wearing a trash can. He cut arm holes, etc. I asked him what he was. And he said, "I'm White Trash!".
My friend and I were buying beer and this guy came up and said, "Free pour for the Poor". And my friend said, "What's that?". And the guy said, "Can I have a pour of your beer?". So my friend gave him some beer from his beer. It was weird. After the guy got his pour of beer from my friend he dug into the trash and started to eat half eaten food from the garbage. The whole time I was I thinking, if you are that poor why would you go to a concert that is about $175 for a 2 day pass?
Just some Vegoose side notes.

Okay, here's the deal with Delta...I'm not worried about him, he's a big boy and can do what the hell he wants...The prob is, he also has a big mouth and a fucked up attitude most of the time and rarely has anything nice to say to or about anyone...I may say some stupid shit at times, and I don't expect it to go well with everybody, but to have one "Know it all" constantly telling me to STFU? Damn right,I'll give him the same respect he gives me... Whenever I've posted something and it was acknowledged in a negative way, I've attempted to "check myself..." Or, accepted being ignored...:dumbo(I'm far from perfect it at though...) In his case, he thrives on that negativity, and that's just not Coachella. It's a vast open space with 60,000 peeps a day...Keep your mind open too all and listen to the music flow~ That being said, and the fact that he's finally accepted Daft Punk into his life, hopefully is enough to call truece...Okay, I'll shut the fuck up now, thank you...
