So is Bill important enough in the scheme of things to count as the 3rd celebrity death or is there still a death watch going on?

I got home from my job interview with child and family services and they already called me in for a second interview to meet with the CEO to discuss the position. I am super excited and may need to have a celebration happy hour if I get the job. Since some of you came to the "I GOT LAID OFF" happy hour you of course get invited to the "I GOT A JOB" happy hour.

Also, Nick is going out of town from June 18th to 25th. I am going to be very sad and lonely while he is gone so I need to schedule some fun things while he is gone. Hopefully with some of my Coachella friends. :)

My friend is doing stand up at the Hidden House tonight. He is going under an incredibly stupid assumed name, and supposedly he is doing some kind of Andy Kaufman inspired thing, so it will either be hilarious or a complete trainwreck. There will be a ton of other comics, and usually half of them are hilarious and half of them bomb. They never have a cover, show is at 8:30 in the little red room on the left. Drinks are cheap.

My wife decided to come too, so, by all means, come monopolize my attention before or after the show.

My friend used to be on that show. She was sick of playing the "blond role". She was replaced by either Alexis or Andrea (who can tell them apart.) The girl she originally replaced looked the same too.

Now Channel 12 on the other hand...I used to work for them (indirectly) and we think that they had a chart that covered every possible ethnic combination and that they based their hiring decisions on that. They replaced Mary Kim Titla (who was Native) with a Navajo friend of mine. My white male friend was working as an auxiliary reporter and got passed over 3 times for promotion until another white male left. They would not hire my blond friend despite having more experience...likely because Fay Fredricks already filled that slot. We joked that the news director probably had a spontaneous orgasm when he met Tram Mai, because he could check off 3 or 4 boxes. "Her name is TRAM MAI?!?" (spooge.)

My co-worker (Jewish) said NPR is anti-Israel.

I've noticed that a lot of times when anything critical or questioning is publicly said of Israel's sometimes questionable policies, it's labeled "anti-Israel" (I've had the same conversation with my boss, whose family lives there)... kind of seems like a cop-out. Jus sayin'.

But then, I'm more or less pro-Palestinian, so.

On the subject of NPR, I heard the most ridiculous thing this morning. They were talking about the importance of using sunblock and ways to get vitamin D - which, okay, I'm on board.

Then one of the commentators is like, "the sun is a carcinogen".

...

Also, the sky is falling.

Yes, and some people seem to use "anti-Israel" as a code word for "anti-Jewish". It shouldn't matter if everyone at NPR is Jewish, they could still be "anti-Israel". (Though, as a news organization, they shouldn't be anti-anything.)

I'm reasonably certain that Pomona is the meth capital of the west coast.

However, we did see Paul T eating BBQ at Joey's across from the Glasshouse. Hey, Paul! You're supposed to take your hat of whilst eating at a restaurant. Especially when you're with a lady. Kthx.

G&D is fun, but it is ALWAYS packed. If you go, get there early.

I'm debating on whether or not to just stay home. I may go to Churchill's in Chandler. Depends on how I feel...will be a last minute decision. I may also be going to Flag this weekend, so if I do that, I'll be watching at my friend's house.

Very interesting place...we stopped by last night after we heard it had its grand opening the week prior. They weren't officially open (decided that was the soft open and would hold the grand opening on 5/23 instead), but they invited us in to have a beer. All of the beers were throwbacks - PBR, Schlitz, Hamm's etc. The menu looks unique and the whole concept is very interesting. They told us the target clientele are families, but I see it more as young hipsters - will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I'm still surprised every time I walk into the Rhythm Room and see they have $1.50 PBR's. I should have purchased and drank 6 of those bad boys during Mumford & Sons last night.

What a fantastic crowd and awesome show, so much energy in that place and the banter with the crowd was hilarious, the lead singer forgot which college was near so he asked how many people went to UofA. After all the boos he laughed and said 'yep that was the response I was going for, i'll tell you what, I don't really give a damn where you go to university'. They will never be back at a venue that size again, that's for sure, sold out and on fire they were. The Rhythm Room is one of the few venues in Phoenix I will actually say I love.

I think my neighbors are citizens, but I think they had a bunch of "illegals" staying with them. They always used to have 5 or 6 cars there, and no one would acknowledge me if I said hello. But now, there are only 2 cars, and the father came and introduced himself the other day and invited me to a party. So, That Law may have actually worked in my favor.

Non-issue. We don't have anything to do with weed in my house.

thanks guys. i broke this very same pinky toe 7 years ago. it's amazing how necessary it is to walk normally. or ya know, drive a stick shift normally > : o

went to get x-rays at my awesome primary care doc who has an x-ray machine in his office, only to find out it was broken lol. went to another place, waiting to hear back. they gave me vicodin though at least. but those fucking stairs at my place are BRUTAL. and i'm on the 2nd floor of my work and there's only 1 elevator in a useless part of my office, so i'm dreading going back to work tomorrow. kinda sucks too cause my flexible spending account was pretty much empty. but thankfully i didn't have any insanely important meetings today or anything. and i'm REALLY glad i iced it last night because it wasn't nearly as disgusting this morning.

and yes, all are welcome saturday. i'm ok with anytime dusk or later. PM me for my address if you don't have it already. today left me kinda broke though, so i won't be able to provide much in the way of drinks, but i do have a TON of ice & non-alcoholic margarita mix if someone wants to bring tequila or something. i know y'all usually bring your own thing, but just a fair warning :)

oh and marc, i once thought i was having a heart attack because of left arm pain from a tear in my inner chest wall lol. you're a trooper :)

This won't be an issue for about 4 or 5 years though (when my youngest hits puberty).

Why did they put you in it to begin with? Do you keep your children caged because of your childhood fears?

These metaphors is getting ridiculous. I am introverted and always have been introverted, and also not very self-sufficient or social. My daughter is the same way to such a degree that I think she's 2 or 3 years (4?) behind socially, so I don't see her turning to pot all that soon unless someone with a very strong personality seeks to dominate her, which, I admit, very well could happen. Being anti-social does have its perks in that I don't use any social drugs.

You aren't self sufficient? Be careful, that could lead to codependency.

Re: pot, I'm noticing a an awful lot of anti-pot articles in my girls' teen magazines.

(yes I am reading my kids' magazines -- the models all have my body type, so it makes me feel better about myself, fuck off).

In order for me to improve my self esteem I have to read National Geographic.

The Nationals are coming to Chase for a 4 game series at the beginning of August, sounds like a good chance to catch Strasburg.
