Cibo is a great substitute if you can't get into Biancos. In any case, we're in.

Good luck making the reservation. I could make it Friday (after 8) or Saturday anytime.

This is the one of maybe two weeks a year that I don't have to have my AC or heat on. YAY.

randy is set on proving phoenix wrong about this best pizza business, lol, so we're shooting for biancos.

i'll try for friday night then, but wait until tomorrow to try.

***EDIT***

nevermind, no reservations through the month of november, walk-in only. CORN I SAY!

the more the merrier!

randy is down for dinner someplace else that friday night after 8, but we have a strict meat & potatoes or italian clause.

i'm not a big fan of that place we went the first time (is that cibo's)? but any other suggestions? rick & jen are westsiders, right? and i know amy & i represent the mesa crew. there's some italian place in scottsdale i went to once that had a really pretty outdoor patio area, but i can't remember what it was. corn.

One of the things that's cool about Chelsea's is that the patio has these huge fireplaces outside and it's centrally located for everyone.

Hmm....let me think about other places...there's a place I've wanted to go to called the Bada Boom Pasta Room-it's in Scottsdale but I've never been there so I can't vouch for it.

I'll bet Tom will say to start the night off at Kazmierez and then head to Cowboy Ciao next door, which would be cool with me.

There's also a place in old town called Furio-I've been there for HH and had some great appetizers but have never eaten dinner.

chairmenmeow47
11-12-2008, 11:00 AM
i like kazmierez, but i've never had dinner either. it's not very good for group settings either, i went to a graduation party there once. i just love when they have live jazz though. i saw this old lady there belt her heart out.

cowboy ciao (http://www.cowboyciao.com/menu.php) looks interesting, but maybe a bit pricey for our group.

i've never had dinner at furio (http://www.furio.tv/menu_menus.html#dinner) either. the only times i've been though were to see friends dj and i was always too broke to eat, lol. that place is fun, but it may be hard to get a large table for our group, i dunno.

good suggestions, jen :) keep 'em coming and post if something sounds yummy to you (lookin at you, pants)!

amen! i went there soon after it opened and it was GOD AWFUL. I have been wanting to do this myself. I'm a deep dish, chicago pizza fan and new yorkers have their lust for the thin crust and it's respected but I find it hard to believe that Bainco's pizza is worth any type of 4 hour wait. Honestly, Bianco is one of the few places that I have been that truly lives up to the hype. The owner has been asked numerous times why he won't expand (the place is tiny). He pretty much says every time that he has plenty of money, and he does not want to sacrifice the quality of the food. Very refreshing to hear these days.

randy and i are going to try to walk-in at bianco's on saturday, no worries there. chelsea's is a bit pricey, but i'm ok with anything that has entrees under $20. not sure what everyone else thinks.

i'll make sure to ask to sit by the fireplace, i know i'll get cold!!! i'm not a big outdoor eater, but it's usually best for large groups.

i will make sure to call today :)

i know, i have done it before, but my problem is I have never bought any of the dishes that you need to cook such a big meal. And it just won't feel like Thanksgiving without family around. It will just be the kids and I. Kind of strange.

The first time my sister made dinner after we moved out of my mothers house she forgot to take the giblets out of the bird and then cooked it upside down. It had that iron taste of liver and the breast was soggy. She has perfected it since then though.

So I went to wonder last night, minus three or four friends who were too intimidated to go. I had a great time, but I think that was more of a result of it being my first rave than anything else. I wish I could have my first rave again. I was absolutely mashed on E at my first one, which happened to be the very last rave held at Tucson's Downtown Event Center. Couldn't even stand up for a good portion of the night. And heard an amazing remix of Radiohead's "Street Spirit" that I haven't heard since, which causes me to wonder if (a) I really heard it or (b) if I have heard it since but it didn't sound so amazing 'cause I'm not rolling 24/7.

I might have. There was people there with some weird things in their hair, but I'm kind of a shy person, and so I didn't want to risk it not being someone and I sound stupid asking " Are you chairmenmeow from the Coachella boards" (Stupid, I know, especially when basically everyone there was rolling and wouldn't give a shit). Overall, though, the costumes weren't that great except for the overly beaded people and the girls going around in bikinis they have no business wearing. It started almost an hour late (they weren't even letting people in until about 9:45) and I left at 2:30 mostly because I was tired of the DnB and hadn't really paced myself early on, so I was worn out. I'm kind of bummed that I missed Ludachrist, but yeah, it was worth the 25 bucks.

LooseAtTheZoo

Oops I forgot one thing. My lasting memory of the rave will probably be seeing some guy blowing the nasal decongestant onto peoples faces, or seeing a girl lying down on a table with some guy crouched over her just waving glowsticks in her face.

Its also good to know you can pretend to be rolling and people will go out of their way to give you an awesome light show.

Honestly, the set times were really disorganized. They were completely different from what they posted online, and even then it was messed up because of how late they started. I might have heard it, the only names I specifically remember listening to were Infiltrata, Rule vs. Evil 1, PXDEX, parts of Ewun, and some of Madam Filth. Ivy: LAME. Hope you're feeling better, though. Will you be all right for Krafty Kuts or do you not think you'll be able to make that either?

Sorry you were illin' Ivy, I missed the show too due to illness/lack of energy. It sounds like you experienced what I described a few weeks ago in regards to the Dub Crawl. Both of these shows were scheduled on one the best nights of the week for good attendance, but no one is coming out to dance. The EDM scene isn't getting the love it deserves here in the Old Pueblo. Was Girl Talk 21+? Were Dub Crawl and Evol Intent 21+? If the answer to the first is "no" and the answer to the second two is "yes," there you have it.

Girl Talk was all ages, Dub Crawl and Evol Intent were 18+. I think this town has to constantly fight off it's cowboy/redneck tendencies. There is a reason Calexico is the most hyped band out of Tucson, and it is not just their talent.

the dub crawl didn't seem to be promoted well IMO and also seemed too spread out for what it was. it was also the same weekend as diablo with hive, so that may have been the problem as well. just like evol being the same weekend as wonder with a heavy dnb lineup.

the other reason i probably won't be at krafty kuts is that i will be at the digable planets (http://www.arizonabeats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17289) on thursday. anyone else going? i danced my ass off to their set in 2006 :)

Yeasayer is at the Rhythm Room on Wednesday, November 26. $12 day of.

Deerhunter/Times New Viking is at Modified on Sunday, November 29. $15 day of. I really mean to go to Stinkweeds to get a ticket for this in advance, though, because I am expecting a sell out.

Also since we're here I'll mentioned Dressy Bessy and Colourmusic who are at Modified on December 4th.

Yeasayer's the same night as Coldplay. Hmm... It'll certainly be a cheaper show.

Yeah it's always fun to throw down a $20 and fill the table. Did not go to Mef or Red, or Q-tip last Monday. Digable should be great. Prob wont make it to Krafty Kuts but I already got my ticket for Deadmau5. Should be good time5...

No, I'm serious. If Coldplay's $50, Yeasayer may be a better idea. Especially if we're doing dinner at Chelsea's on Friday.

Either the weekend of December 19th or New Year's. :) I just know I have 2 vacation days to take and I wanna randomly get out of Burque.

We never do anything for New Year's, so no pressure here. Last year we candyflipped, which ended badly.

i have no clue what candyflipped means but I will avoid it if it ends badly. being single, new years usually involves me hanging out and partying with a bunch of couples who at the end of the night start making out and I drunk dial people from my past. Never a good plan.

Awesome I should know real soon when it will be. I have a lady friend who lives in Tucson, so I'd probably split time between there and Phoenix. Or I might just stay in Phoenix depending on her work schedule. Either way, I would love to go out for drinks and/or dinner. Or coffee or whatever.

Nice. I once went to a party where some of the couples decided to do a bit more than kissing once the clock hit midnight.

Yeah most of my married friends have been married a little too long I think. By the end of the night there is usually married people kissing other married people but not thier spouses.
