Whole Foods opened its first UK store yesterday. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6721615.stm)

I'll probably go check it out next week. I like the ones I've been to in the US... horribly over-priced though they are.

in Minneapolis i swear the most unattractive, disheveled, unshaven & fashion-challenged people shop at ORGANIC grocery stores.

i would guess in the UK you can multiply the fuglies by 4

There's one in Vegas? That seems so wrong... Vegas is meant to be corrupt and unsavoury, not wholesome!

4? you're too generous. I'd've said 40.

if i had said 40 there was a good mathematical chance that said population would have included members of Stef's family and/or current or past girlfriends, and that would have led to bad feelings, tears and fisticuffs

Who the fuck needs to make their own muesli? That's just ridiculous.

In my area it's the stuffy, trying to be earthy, big boobed crowd that shop there.

The unshaven and fashion-challenged work there.

I see that the Federal Trade Commission is suing to block the merger of Whole Foods markets with Wild Oats markets.

Wow.....The beer selection at whole foods has to be so overpriced. What kind of beer do you typically buy from whole foods?

Yea it is over-priced, but it's walking/biking distance from my house, and they have a lovely selection of Belgian beers. I love Belgian beers.

I don't see why they could if you compare them with the oligopoly that the major brands have. I love the turkey burgers at Wild Oats. I don't like how Wild Oats replaced Jurgensens in Pasadena. It was much better under that company.

The people who shop at Whole Foods near me are mostly anorexic looking, health conscious freaks who you'd recognize from film and tv.

this is an actual interesting thing that you said, ken.

we have wild oats here, but we do not have whole foods. wild oats is a even-further overpriced, poor selection rip-off of whole foods.

also - i didn't notice bug's ragingdave sig until now, but lollercopter for sure.

For a minute I thought they might have spawned another branch of beer and this would please me considering that, yes youre right, Arrogant Bastard is delicious.

Youre from LA, right? Do you ever go to the 3rd Stop? Its a bar with a fantastic tap selection near the Beverly Center. They have Arrogant on tap.

This is the first I've heard of the FTC taking legal action against WO/WF. Any links to said information?

The one in London is a few doors away from where i work, and it's been heaving with organic addicts all week. All other surrounding supermarkets are struggling as a result.

There is a Whole Foods a block from my house in Sherman Oaks. They had a free Speeddating event there once, but I did not really like anyone there.

Anyone ever shop a JONS? It's like VONS, but the neon on the left side of the V burnt out. Same color, same font, but it's Jons; WTF???

Exactly...

This is where I see the big-boobed, yuppie, wannabe granola-types shopping at...

I love the place, buy my wines there...

trader joe's is the only spot around here I can find an albarino at a reasonable price. I hate them for that. I always get drawn in when I pass by and wind up buying ridiculous shit that I'll never eat.

You might find a barolo in there for $12, but there's no way I'll believe you'll find a decent one.
