It was created today. This is counting down to something, what it is, who knows. Live Nation owns the url so it might be a tour. Guess we'll find out.

CD or Tour. Nothing else would call for such a display.

Weird, the old Rage website www.ratm.com... isnt working.
It has two countdowns on it too, eh?
I hope its a tour! I would most definately see them again.

It would be pointless to release an album, it really wouldnt be the same. I kind of think its a bad idea to do a full tour, it really makes them look like greedy mofos. You think the Coachella and Rock The Bells paycheks wouldve been enough.

Why would it be pointless? If they're getting along well enough, I'd spend my hard earned money on another Rage album and a closer tour date.

If that was the deal, how would they be working on an album right now if Morello is doing his Nightwatchman thing and just coming back in time this summer for Rock The Bells? I really dont see an album coming out of them.

Would make sense if one was the countdown for the announcement of a full tour, and the other countdown for the dropping of a possible new album. Dont see what else it could be.

Over the last year Mike Patton has been Tour with Peeping Tom, in the middle of that he has been able to record a new Tomahawk album and has begun session with Fantomas, for an album planned for release later this year.
Moral of the story, if Tom Morello wanted to record a new album with Rage, he would fit it into his schedule.

Ok so Black. Yeah we get it.

Lets get the new album s**t out of the way. Ever think that the tour could start on August 24th? Its a friday night just under a week from the final Rock The Bells date. Wow, so hard to calculate huh?

8/24 = Alpine Valley show. It's been figured out several times over already.

it's even in the source code for that spread the word form:

Wheres alpine valley?
Alpine Valley is in Wisconsin, relatively close to Chicago.

The 78 days counts down to Augst 24th, which is probably the first day of whatever tour they're planning.

The site is run by LiveNation, who is probably running the tour.

The Alpine Valley show was announce months ago by a local radio station up there.

The website itself as that secret "Rage at Alpine" message in the source code.

The other countdown is likely when the new RATM website is released or the announcement of the upcoming tour.

Here's my guess:

First clock - tour announcement
Second clock - the first date of said tour

That exactly what I was guessing.
My girlfriend has had very different thoughts though.
She thinks it wont have anything to do with their music. Shes guessing its Rage announcing their involvement in some political protest/event of some sorts. And the second countdown is to the day of that happening.
I still think its a tour.

That is an interesting thought. I would imagine it isn't the case though, as money probably wouldn't be involved in that.

Rage have done tons of things in the past, where money hasnt been involved.
Also, I do not believe these shows are ALL about the money. Yes, of course the money probably helped convince them. But it seems Tom Morello really believes in the power of music and he really believes that politics need a change.
Say what you want, but I do not think Coachella, Rock the Bells or the possible tour, will be for money. It is because they really believe in their political message and their influence. Whether or not they actually make a difference isnt the case here.

Im not saying they ARE going to change the country. Hell, I dont think anyone else can save the states at this point.
I am simply saying Rage do believe in their music. They believe in their voice. They believe in the power of the people. So they likely believe they will make a bigger difference if they go on tour. Sure money is involved, blah, blah, blah. So fucking what? Are they not allowed to make money while playing the music they love and spreading their word?
As I said, the issue is not whether Rage has/had/have a direct influence on politics. Rage simply believes thier voice has an an influence.

I think Zach still lives in his apartment, if that says anything to your "money" talk.

Also, yes, Mike Patton is a MACHINE. In fact, he may be the machine that Rage has been raging against for so long. But it works, because Mike Patton anal rapes bitches as such on the daily.

Assuming their "message" is the motivation here, why the fuck aren't they out in the spotlight exactly?

A candidate who has a message goes on a press tour and sets up interviews with every news outlet imaginable.

Other than that improv performance by Zacqkh at Coachella (because there is no way that shit was well thought out) has anyone heard from them?

I'm not talking about their charity efforts or blogs or websites or fan message boards. I'm talking about mediums that would reach people who don't know what the fuck a "ratm" is.

Go to the concert and enjoy the music. Leave the politics to the folks who are entertained by it.

And their official website isn't down anymore.

Tom Morello has the Nightwatchman, and he is touring. He has also done several interviews.
However, news stations like Fox wont have him on there. Simply because he is too radical for them. Instead they continue to invite guests like Anne Coulter.
Rage IS their way to get the news out there. Obviously people who dont know what a "ratm" is, did know after Fox news covered Zacks speach at Coachella. (And vastly misrepresented it, but thats another story)
Either way, their word is getting out there. And right now, it is not making an immediate difference. Who knows, it might never make a difference. But atleast it got some people thinking, and looking for change. For all we know, it may make a difference decades from, we just wont know it.
As for myself, I respect Rages opinions and messages, and frankly dont agree with everything they have to say. But goddamn do I enjoy their music and I am more than happy to pay them to preach to me. With that being said, Rage have changed some of my political ideals. So there we go. They have made a difference.

“The website is registered to Live Nation Worldwide, Inc. Live Nation owns Alpine Valley Music Theatre, in East Troy Wisconsin. By turning your PC clock forward to June 11 the website reveals that RATM will be playing a show there when the second countdown ends on August 24, 2007.”

I was just commenting on the fact that they have a CD listed on amazon.com, with an August 28th release date. I wasnt taking it for fact. Its just interesting that its up there.

So that "Lowdown" album is really just a compilation or biography of some sort.

I just noticed they have one for Tool as well with the same name.

Probably other bands as well.

Even if they decided to record, I wouldn't expect the product until late 2008 or early 2009.

No way, Audioslave was still going last year and all that. They recorded and released that last year so I dont know it wouldve been fitted in schedule wise and NOBODY know about it. You would think somebody woudl say soemthing regarding it. Like if Rick Rubin for example produced it, how wouldnt we notice he was missing in action and whatnot with other projects?
