Wherein we talk about having ovaries and breasts. And toenail polish colors. And silly Cosmo articles. And how chocolate solves the world.

Hi ladies. How are you? How do you feel about wearing black to an evening wedding? Is this acceptable? Also, why do women over the age of 16 order drinks with names like "sex on the beach" or a "screaming orgasm"? Please tell me that you're not one of them.

i think black at the wedding is fine. so long as you're not hotter than the bride. and if you are naturally hotter and it's a simple dress, that's fine. no prom dresses though.

and hot guys vs. cute guys, MmMmMm. i like both. hot guys generally say stupid things like "you can make a gun out of anything". cute guys do things like draw you birthday cards.

and i order beer, holla!

Black to an evening wedding, I think is perfectly appropriate. Unless, like you said, the dress itself regardless of color is inappropriate. At my brother's wedding, a girlfriend of my now ex-sister-in-law wore this really tight fitting, really sheer black dress that was cut waaaaayy up the sides. Julia, the bride, was NOT happy.

When I wear eyeliner, it's Smashbox cream eyeliner in Midnight Brown, applied with an angled brush. Usually after that I put on an Urban Decay copper that I love, because I have green eyes and they work nicely together. Sometimes I also wear smashbox clear photo finish primer as well, which you're meant to put things on top of, but I don't do powder or foundation or concealer any of that stuff. I'm pretty much eyes-only when it comes to makeup.

And I'll take a beer or a vodka and cranberry.

Well, regularly I dream about people I recognize in one form or another in situations that are believable to me even in my dream. Also, upon waking they tend to fade away.

The Ovulation Series, however, tends to be super realistic in quality and yet completely ridiculous in storyline. They are vivid, and I can describe, in minute detail, what happened in the dream for an hour or more afterward. But that could well be just me. Uber-weird dreams include, but are not limited to, examples of the following:

- Most recent: Cleaning of my high school gymnasium under watch of extremely grumpy grounds keeper, shifts into beginnings of a family reunion, but suddenly becomes saga of pregnant 5-yr-old girl who was raped by her father (stunning reveal at the end, movie-style). This dream had a sequel in which the father attempted to kill the daughter (by this time in her teens) for destroying his life.

- Going on wild adventures similar to those demonstrated in children's books, with the minor exception that all the characters are adults and the main bad guy is a tall, skinny man in a Speedo of some sort.

- Family car trips that include visits to underwater grave sites, lopped-off limbs, and a significant amount of doubt as to everyone else's sanity, regardless of the fact that I'm the one dreaming it.

In all, The Ovulation Series tends to be srsly bizarre and tends to be sexually charged in one form or another, even if it's unpleasantly so.

Dream, 4/21. "Ovulation series", if you will.

I was staying in a big house and I was going to go camping. There was a big group of people already at the camping place, but I was far away and I needed to get there, and it was up a big hill. Somehow it was decided that we would hire a pickup truck driver, and I would ride up in an armchair in the back of his truck bed.

I left with a friend and we stopped to get a video. When we came back outside, the station wagon I had been driving had a person in it who was messing with everything. They had turned the bench seat in the front around, and moved the brake pedal to the passenger side. I also think there was something wrong with the car that had to do with chickens, but I can't recall.

So we decided to drive the car home anyway, with me pressing the gas and whomever the friend was pressing the brake. It was a bumpy ride, but we made it home.

All of a sudden, I was back in high school. It was a sort of superhighschool. Several stories and a student lounge that looked like a restaurant. I went into the bathroom with aforementioned friend, even though there were no toilets, just stalls. Then these two guys came in and for some reason we were terrified of them, and so we took off running and there was a chase all around the school, which was somehow attached to the big house I had been staying in earlier. There was a lot of running up and down stairs. I ended up in the restaurant.

In the restaurant area, there were some areas of the floor that were not safe to walk on. I kept accidentally running on them, and then getting in trouble with who I guess was the principal. I finally managed to lose the people who were chasing me, so I hung out in the restaurant a bit. There was a little display of some chocolates that were for sale, so I went over to buy some. A girl came up who had some ridiculous name that I was pretty sure was Praline or something like that, so, trying to be friendly, I said "hello, praline!" and she got all huffy and grabbed a bag of chocolates and said, "My name is Chiffon!" and then she stormed off. I then saw another girl I knew and said "man, that chiffon girl is SUCH a snob". and then I woke up.

can i get a definition on tramp stamp? is it any tattoo on your lower back or is it a stupid tattoo on your lower back?

Beginning in the late 1990s[citation needed], the lower back tattoo became popular, especially among young women. Lower back tattoos are often oblong in shape, following the slope of the back on either side of the woman's spine. Worn almost exclusively by women, the lower back tattoo functions as body decoration with the intent of emphasizing sexual attractiveness. Generally, a lower back tattoo will be designed to emphasize the shape and curvature of the female figure[citation needed]. While such tattoos have become increasingly popular and accepted in recent years, they remain controversial in some quarters. Wearers regard their tattoos as sexy and a way of empowering themselves as women by asserting their sexuality. However, opponents consider tattoos in this location as suggestive of promiscuity and an indication of Raunch Culture. Slang terms for the tattoo include "cum-catcher," "tramp stamp," "ho tag," "bull's-eye," etc.

I do not usually wear make-up unless I feel the circumstance calls for it. Which it usually doesn't. And hasn't, really, for the past few months.

As far as birth control, I was on the patch for a while but got really terrible migraines and mood swings and other terrible things. The doctors I saw tried to tell me that the shot was a good idea but I laughed in their faces because clearly they're dumb. So it's non-hormonal methods for me.

I'm getting a tattoo. Ewiggy is going to design it for me, even though she hasn't completely agreed to this yet. I think I want it to be something travel-themed. Suggestions welcome.

I wear makeup pretty much every day. My work is somewhat formal though, so it would be weird not to. Usually just a moisturizer with SPF for the face, brown smudgy pencil eyeliner and brown mascara, and a little lipgloss.

i wear makeup most days although not if i'm feeling lazy.

foundation, powder, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and usually lip plumping lip gloss.

http://www.moca.org/images/store/1455_473910001173914324.jpg

And the lip venom stuff freaks me out a little. Once as a joke gift somebody gave me body paint that made your tongue all tingly like that too, but then my tongue went totally numb for a good five minutes afterwards. It was weird. Maybe the different people have different sensitivity to the tingliness.

Boys are stupid. Except some that aren't :)

The Depo shot is bad because it's like this big surge of the progesterone hormone into your system all at once, which confuses your body. But it's good for women in high risk categories (irresponsible teenagers, drug addicts, etc) that may otherwise forget a daily method like a pill or a weekly method like the patch.

I've always been curious about the IUD, but it also sort of freaks me out.

amyzzz
06-04-2007, 09:56 AM
My doctor told me the IUD would interfere with an already fertilized embryo, preventing it from implantation or some shit. That sounded like abortion to me, which I would never do personally. (I don't care if other women do it, just not me).

i've heard the shot can also help cause endometriosis. also, if you want to have kids some day, it can be harder after being on depo for awhile (again, only what i've heard).

for me though, it really heightened my emotions. i'm pretty emotional to begin with, so that's not a good thing. i found myself getting really upset over stuff that normally would annoy me for a few minutes, but then i'd be over it. i felt like i lost some of my ability to be logical, lol. i gained a shitload of weight. i became depressed. i didn't want to go out and i was tired all time. it really affected my cycle too.

FYI, you don't need to use Seasonale to skip your period. You can use pretty much most pills and just throw out the placebo ones that you'd normally be taking. This is especially good if you want something lower-dose than Seasonale because you don't need a full-strength birth control pill. It's also good if you normally take a pill that gives you a period but you're going on vacation or something and don't want to deal with it. Ask your ob/gyn about it.

i used to LOVE their pink panty collection. the plain black ones were where it was at. but now they've added a tiny pink border to the top that makes them look lame. i miss the plain black ones :(

and that "intimisso" collection is GORGEOUS! it's too bad the italian sizes didn't really seem to include my size. what a strange way they have of sizing their bras. i did find one pastel green bra & panty set that looked good, though it's definitely not supportive enough for everyday wear. i was sad none of the others really fit though :(

and i also hate that recently they started charging $2 extra for my size, what's up with that?!

i generally shop online at victoria's secret, but i went on a shopping binge yesterday and stopped in. i love the tank tops they have online, but i wish you could try them on first, i'm always between a medium and a large.

i used to LOVE their pink panty collection. the plain black ones were where it was at. but now they've added a tiny pink border to the top that makes them look lame. i miss the plain black ones :(

and that "intimisso" collection is GORGEOUS! it's too bad the italian sizes didn't really seem to include my size. what a strange way they have of sizing their bras. i did find one pastel green bra & panty set that looked good, though it's definitely not supportive enough for everyday wear. i was sad none of the others really fit though :(

and i also hate that recently they started charging $2 extra for my size, what's up with that?!

and amy, that's interesting. as long as i keep up on the brushing, mine doesn't get too bad. it just sucks if i go to bed in the pigtails after a party. trying to untangle that mess always sucks. do you use a lot of conditioner to help the tangles?
I use conditioner in the shower, and I use a leave-in conditioner before I style it. My hair is about chin-length now, and it gets slight tangles even at this length. I sprayed a gallon of leave-in conditioner in my (tangley) daughter's long hair this morning to get the knots out.

And that's lame you have to pay extra for your larger bra size. When does that damn semi-annual VS sale start anyway? Is it on?

i think so. when i went in yesterday they had $10 off almost all bras, 40% off the italian "intimisso" collection and they had the bra & panty bins out. i love watching women tear through those bins.

What's with wires poking out of bras anyway? My bras, no matter how expensive, always get tossed out after about a year because the wires start poking through the edges.

for me though, it really heightened my emotions. i'm pretty emotional to begin with, so that's not a good thing. i found myself getting really upset over stuff that normally would annoy me for a few minutes, but then i'd be over it. i felt like i lost some of my ability to be logical, lol. i gained a shitload of weight. i became depressed. i didn't want to go out and i was tired all time. it really affected my cycle too.

and the worst part is, you're stuck with it for months.

I wash them on delicate in the machine and then hang them to dry. Should I hand wash them? Crap, I hate handwashing stuff.

Freaking underwires.

My kid does her own laundry and has been doing so since she was 10 or 11, but I don't make her do mine. I don't trust her to get the spots out from when I drop food on myself, which is at every meal.

The only thing I've ever had from Victoria's Secret is one pair of underwear that I got for free with a voucher that came in the mail.

My very favorite underwear came from Express, but they closed the one here when I was like fifteen.

chairmenmeow47

funny story about express underwear...

years ago, they used to send out those postcards that were $15 towards a purchase at express, excluding accessories. they wanted you to spend more than $15, but i was poor. so i figured that i could get a couple of pairs of underwear with the $15.

i went to the counter and the sales lady said i couldn't use the coupon cause it wasn't good on accessories. i was like "ummm, i don't know what you do with your underwear, but underwear is not an accessory". and she argued with me. i kept saying "what am i going to do, wear this on my wrist?!"

we went back and forth and i was like "i understand if y'all aren't going to take the coupon, but you have to realize how crazy it is to call underwear an accessory." they never admitted it and i didn't shop at express for years after that, lol.

Courtney
06-05-2007, 02:59 PM
Can't you just use any thick-bottomed pot to pop popcorn? That's what I have done in the past.

amyzzz
06-05-2007, 03:03 PM
I've never heard of that. Our popper had this stirring metal thing on the bottom of it, but I guess you can "stir" the oil around by shaking the pot every so often maybe....

edit: or using a spoon even. hehe.

Courtney
06-05-2007, 03:08 PM
What I do is get a really thick-bottomed saucepan or pot. The fill the bottom with a thin layer of oil (I really like olive oil for the taste, but use whatever you like). Heat on medium heat for a couple of minutes until the oil is viscous and you can tell that it's hot. Then, add corn kernels. But the trick is that you can only have one layer, so don't add too much. You can shake it a bit so they sit evenly across the bottom of the pot but they should all be touching the bottom. Then, cover the pot and let it sit on medium-low heat until the popping has stopped (or nearly stopped). No stirring should be required, although sometimes I pick up the pot and give it a few quick taps onto the burner with the lid still on, halfway through popping, just to make sure all the unpopped kernels have gotten to the hot bottom.
