"the boobs one", ahhahaha. I took a look through the contestants' pictures to see which one that was, what sort of "reality" show can it be where half of your dating options are employed as some sort of model?

guedita
01-05-2010, 08:39 AM
Well, the first episode is basically an audition. All the women had some sort of "line" or gimmick to make them stand out when they first meet him. Then a fake laugh and bodily contact. So well rehearsed...

What's great is that this show is allegedly "classy." I mean, I've watched other bad reality dating shows (on VH1 and MTV) that seem to have a tongue-in-cheek sort of trashiness...but I get the impression that the way the Bachelor women are packaged and presented indicates that this is the standard quo...

locachica73

I have never been one to "diet" before but all the gimmicks that people try have always annoyed me. Like the no carbs thing, WTF, you need carbs. There is a reason bread is in the food triangle. Or a grapefruit diet? ugh, i have never got it. I have found just not eating past 6 pm and not letting myself get full not only helps my ulcer but has helped me drop several pounds and makes me just feel a lot better. No need to starve or become that annoying person in the restaurant who has to have everything specially made.

The only surefire way to lose weight is diet AND exercise. And by diet, I mean cutting back on quantities/maintaining a specific caloric intake while still eating from all the healthy food groups.

Not eating past a specific hour is good too. And exercising early in the morning is the best, because it kicks your metabolism into gear!

But the food pyramid is admittedly fucked up. You need certain carbs. Sugars are not one of them. Sugars are really the devil.

locachica73
01-05-2010, 11:02 AM
Well there are good carbs and bad carbs just like there is good fat and bad fat, but you need all those things in your diet at some point. Cutting one or another out completely will only trick your body into losing weight, then when you go back to normal eating habits you pile it back on, plus some.

I agree, just watching what you eat, when you eat and how you eat is the best way to go. If I could just motivate myself to actually excercise instead of just dancing 1 or 2 nights a week I would probably be doing much better. I just can't find the motivation.

You know, those wings pads may be great and all, but used with thong panties, you end up attaching both sticky parts together. The end result is the hassle of trying to remove the bloody fucking mess without getting it all over yourself.

One of you bleeding twats explain to me all manner of weird things about feminine products. What's with Pearls, Wings, all that shit.
They used to make convenience the selling point on feminine products. When they realized we really don't give a shit about horseback riding or playing tennis, they needed to update with a different strategy...The Pearls are basically just tampons with a pearlescent plastic tube covering the same thing they always had, yet makes them look better than their competition. The Wings are for attaching to the undies so everything stays in place while we squirm and whine about our cramps.

That might scare everybody away.
A thong with a pad . . . are you retarded?
The first time I tried them, I thought the idea was retarded, yes. But, they do make pads designed for thong panties. (And you still have to deal with the sticky tape meeting up in the center.) So, I had to ask myself one day, "Self, WTF can you use all these winged pads for now, since they obviously are not user friendly for all?" And thus, the disposable work shoe comfort pad was developed! Go ahead...say that's retarded. But, when you work on your feet all day and find that after time, those Dr Scholl's shoe pads have lost their poof, taping a minipad inside the shoes adds the cushioning to get you through the day. They're absorbent, some are scented, and regardless...you can throw them out each day without breaking the bank. *Here's a tip though...You can't use them with sandals...that would be retarded.

As far as I know, the tampons w/"pearls" are designed to keep you from leaking blood. Wings keep your pad from leaking onto the sides of your underpants.
I thought all tampons were made for the prevention of leaking blood. And personally, winged or not, I'm not wearing one of those things long enough to worry about leaking over the sides. As far as I'm concerned they're just backup in case you're too far from using a restroom.

If all else, with just a little more string on the Cooter plug, your Snuggie, and a nice breeze outside, you could attempt to fly like a kite.

frito chips (the mini size bag) = 160 cal
sourdough bacon and chicken sandwich from jack in the box = 555 cal

I guess the idea of the insertion without the applicator grosses me out a little. The applicator at leasts keeps the fingers from getting narsty, for the most part. I have never used them but the idea kind of grosses me out. But I can't wear tampons anyway so I am stuck with narsty pads.

Make sure that the calories you are getting aren't just a bunch of empty calories, you will end up feeling a lot more hungry at the end of the day.

And I don't know, the pooping thing, I know it seems strange but I have always just been weird about bodily functions. It could be because I grew up in a house where my father would lift his leg and aim at me and I was traumatized, or maybe it was my old boss who would time the amount of time I would spend in the bathroom and comment on it if he thought I was in there too long. Whatever the reason, I usually wait till Nick is sleeping and sneak into the other bathroom or wait till he is smoking a cigerette if I need to fart. I am an odd duck I know.

i think its easier for me to eat this way is because i am pettie and i usually dont have to eat too much to stay full. as long as i eat throughout the day im set.

also because im at a high stress level job and am constantly runing around on my feet all day i dont stop to think about food unless im on a break. im usually away from home for about 11 to 12 hours a day and my dinner is never after 8pm.

Very true, Ha.SK and one of the issues I have with standardized BMI / weight charts and such, as well as people (women especially) thinking they need to be a specific size. It does not take into account what you've done to yourself to get to that weight or size. We all know the "overweight" person who actually eats well and works out regularly, as well as the "underweight" person who carries bags of candy everywhere.

I know I've posted this before but I love the Flickr BMI project -- it's meant to show that BMI charts are bogus:

I agree. I may be fat now but at 5'2"-ish and 140lbs I was a size 6 and even had to tailor my clothes because my waist was not quite big enough for a 6. I worked out every single day though, including lifting every day, so that made a difference weight-wise.

~160lbs is the weight that looks best on me, that's about a size 8 or 10 on me (mostly because of the boobs). It sounds incredibly fat, but didn't look that way. The 5 lbs per inch rule works perfect for me, and would probably apply well to Amy too, as she is also not the curvy type. She needs some sort of baseline to get to. I would probably have to go on a 6 month meth binge to get to that weight lol.

I severely reduced my saturated fat and refined sugar intake. Eliminated soda permanently. Rarely drink fruit juice. Don't drink alcohol, so that's not an issue. Brown rice only. Very lean meat/chicken/fish. Greatly increased fruit/veggie/monounsaturated fat intake. Did that for 3 1/2 months and lost 30 lbs without exercise.

I got down to 118 and was pretty alarmed, so I stopped the really restrictive eating and just eat everything in moderation now. All through the holidays I've eaten goodies and such, but I'm still at 122, without exercising. I was always a skinny person, except for the last 7 years or so, when I gained a considerable amount of weight. I'm so much happier at this good medium range, and I feel a 1000 times better.

Farmers market is a better source for healthy organic vegies, cheaper than what they sell in the grocery stores. But I just don't have the time or the energy, or the desire even. I am over weight, I will probably always be over weight, I have accepted that. I eat pretty good, for the most part, just because I am forced to, my body doesn't digest food the way its suppose to so stuff heavy in preservatives actually hurts.

Being vegan CAN be healthy. IMO, it takes more effort to eat healthfully as a vegan because you have to make more careful food choices. Hopefully many people that are vegan are somewhat educated on nutrition and are able to eat well.

That being said, I have definitely encountered people who were vegan for ethical reasons rather than health reasons and they ate like hell. I know vegans who don't like vegetables. :) They eat fried shit and tofu only.

as far as what ive read and what goes on on most farms what with all the pesticides that are sprayed onto our fruits and vegetables is pretty disgusting to me.

Sure -- but what exactly do you think goes into packaged foods? That ramen cup starts as non-organic grains and vegetables and farm raised meat or fish. You're not even getting the benefit of eating consumer grade non-organic food, though, but the food equivalent of 'remnants', really.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, I eat some processed food myself, but with the knowledge that I'm eating incredible worthless crap.

a lot of food that is labeled as organic is not really fully organic, though. true organic fruits and veggies, for the most part, don't look that good on the outside. a lot of that shit is a scam.

Standards for labeling organic are definitely iffy, here we're lucky enough to be near farms, have access to many farmer's markets, and organics delivery services. The quality is usually good since their immediate reputation depends on it, versus being a faceless brand in a supermarket.

That being said, not being able to find or afford organic produce isn't a valid excuse to eat crap instead of unprocessed foods.

embrace your freak girl. I am the same way, I prefer salad to candy, a can of green beans is actually a very tasty dinner to me. I have never been much of an eater, in fact I eat far less then my skinny friends, just unlucky to have shitty metabolism.

I blame my parents for it! While they didn't do everything perfectly, they were pretty particular about what was available in our house. Being in a rural area, if the junk food wasn't in the house, it was pretty hard to get elsewhere -- we had to walk several miles to the nearest store.

My parents had a really good system though I think -- they didn't completely outlaw junk food, but forced us to practice moderation. For example, my dad really liked soda, so we drank soda -- once a week. When we drank it, we'd get an entire bottle each. Our friends thought this was amazing that our parents would just give everyone a whole bottle of soda -- in reality my friends' parents kept 2 Liter bottles in the fridge which they drank from freely, and it added up to being lot more than one 12 oz bottle a week. We ate desserts but they were mostly homemade ones, which, while having sugar, did not have several paragraphs of chemicals and additives in the ingredients.

When we were older, my dad would buy us each like 2 cases of soda to last the summer. We could pick anything we wanted, but only 24 cans. It was up to you how you budgeted that -- drink it all the first week or ration it out. I was always the one who still had a hoard at the end of the summer. ;)

Right. I'm responding to the idea that it's somehow cheaper to eat junk food and fast food than healthy food. It's not. It may be more expensive to buy organic, but let's be honest, people getting their meals from McDonald's can afford to buy vegetables and fruit. McDonald's costs more per meal than I spend on organic produce per meal.

my mom canned fruits and vegies when we were little so we always had vegies available. so she does get props I guess for teaching me to love my vegies. But she also taught me horrible eating habits. She always worked nights so we had to fend for ourselves in the mornings, she didn't buy cereal or any of that stuff so never ate breakfast. I still don't eat breakfast, which has stalled my metabolism to nothing and typically only ate once a day. I fainted several times in high school because I was aneamic, fat and aneamic, that doesn't happen often. lol

lol yeah I sometimes think I had reverse anorexia, I never saw the huge girl in the mirror that looked back at me. And I was huge, I see pictures of myself when I was married, or even from coachella last year and i just never saw that person in the mirror. They say the camera adds 10lbs, but in my case it seemed more like 30.

I have really interesting body dysmorphia where my mental image has not changed even though I have -- but which is consistent despite my changes in both directions, ie, when I was extremely underweight, I thought I was fat, but now that I'm very overweight, I think I'm fat but not as fat as I actually am. I have seen the same image throughout. I'm not sure what to do with that.

Eh. My parents always made breakfast, and yet I don't eat it. My mom and dad would not let us out of the house without eating something healthy. Whenever I went to my friends' houses, I would binge on Trix and such. :)

I seriously love veggies though. And recently I've re-discovered that cottage cheese is incredible.

Breakfast would take away a few minutes of blissful sleep in the morning that I am not willing to give up. Plus I just have never been hungry in the morning, the thought of food usually disgusts me before 10 am, unless I am really hung over. Coffee with creamer isn't considered nutritious? Come on... really?

Congrats HTD, you look great. :)

I will have to find one of my before pics and see what they look like side by side. I haven't changed anything about my diet other than not eating after 6-7 and just being more carefull of what I eat, not because I want to lose weight, just trying to save my stomach any pain.
