My daughter gets mad because I always end up with some deep red color. I am not much of a "pink" girl and purples annoy me as well. I did go with a construction cone orange once. That was fun. :)

Yeah, I don't do pink either. Some purples are good though, very dark or bright violet. I made the mistake of wearing yellow polish on my hand (green on the other), and now my nails are forever stained yellow on that hand until they grow out. Ugh.

I'm pretty impressed that you ladies can all rattle out polish color names. I usually only pay attention to the color.
However, I suppose the exception is Essie brand Mademoiselle polish, a sheer pink neutral which is my go-to color for my fingernails, to the point that I actually keep a bottle in my personal box kit at the nail salon.

The only name I remember is the one I mentioned because the name always made me laugh. But whenever I go get my toes done I go through a bunch of colors and read the names because they are typically pretty clever. Pedicures are about the extent of my girly nature.

Amyzzz, I saw this article on MSN and thought of you. It lists different ways to wear leggings which isn't hard to figure out I suppose but with each picture they list where the leggings came from. Some of them are pretty crazy looking but fun. :)

I don't paint my nails because a) I bite them, b) I always pick at the nail polish and end up chipping it away, and c) wearing gloves all the time in lab tends to wear the polish off quickly even if I didn't pick. I do keep my toenails painted, though. I tend to rotate between silver, pale pink, and a happy bright coral color.

My fingernails are really thin and flimsy so paint chips off super fast. When I was younger and it was "the thing to do" I use to go get my nails done with acrylics all the time but I am not only big but I am also big boned, I blame the german blood in me. So even when I had long pretty nails it still looked like mans hands with a manicure. But that shit ruined what fingernails I did have.

Sports bras for big tits: you want one that fastens on (hooks/eyes) rather than pulls on - the pullover kind are too stretchy and will let you bounce; that has actual cups rather than just a tank top style; the cups/boob area should not be very stretchy.
Basically think of pointy old lady bras and you've got it.
My marathoner friend swears by this one and she is a G cup. heh.
http://www.barenecessities.com/Shock-Absorber-Level-4-Max-No-Wire-Sports-Bra_product_ShockAbsorberB109_,search,36DDD.htm
But there are lots of slightly less ugly ones. To protect your boobs, you are most likely going to want something ugly. You can always wear a cute "sports bra" over it. ;)

My God, that's like a butt cheek! And I'll be honest, I went back to the site with the bouncing tits to see because I can't imagine what a "G" cup would look like, and I was visualizing a pair of like matching bean bags.
All I can say is, "Ouch!" It must be insane trying to find clothes, let alone bras to harbor those! And just the fact that you have to lug them around 24/7 has to be an endurance test each day!

My girlfriend was a DD all through high school. She use to hate going bra shopping with my because I could buy these cute $10 bras with lace and frills and only one hook. She on the other hand would have to get gramma bras with 4 hooks in the back. Then she got pregnant a few years later and ended up with F size boobs. Poor girl couldn't walk upright hardly. Bad back pain, shoulder pain, it was horrible. I lost contact with her when I moved here but I know she dreamed of the day she could get a reduction. I will take my ittybitty's over that anyday.

BD, "G"s are big but not as crazy as you are imaging. Most brands go DD-E-F-G, so a G is like 5" bigger around the entire chest measurement than a C.

With as hot as it got a couple times this summer, I felt pretty blessed to be able to sit and watch TV with Pete and we both had our shirts off. Fortunately, he did notice and thought it was pretty cool...I'm wondering though if he felt like it was a guy night since we were watching all those shows like "Ice Road Truckers," or the dudes that are fishing for crabs in Alaska?

No, people! Shove as much shit in each bag so I don't have anything to explain when I walk in the front door!!!

Well, I wear a DDD/F, and I can sometimes find those pullover stretchy sports bras at Target that fit me. Most of them don't, but now and then I get lucky. The XL or XXL might fit.
I've basically given up on finding anything that both provides "support" and that I can wear without being tortured. Either I can't breathe, or my neck and shoulders kill me. Much more comfortable going without. My main complaint is it makes me look fatter than I actually am.
It doesn't really hurt when I run unless I'm having PMS or something, but I guess it's not supposed to be good.

BD, every cup size adds an inch. In theory.
TheWatcher, ok, so I am a DDD and I can buy a XL or XXL "sports bra" which will fit on my body. That doesn't mean it works well. :) It is okay for very mild impact stuff (yoga, cycling, etc) but if I'm going to run or do anything with jumping/bouncing, I would want to wear something more substantial. Even though the stretchy ones are tight, they're not really very protective. It's not even that I bounce that much but that I feel like not having the right support in those situations will make them saggier later. ;)

Do you really think that it's bad? I don't have kids so it's easy for me to disagree... Every little girl looks up to her mom. If I had girls I'd rather than get used to seeing real body types and to build their self-image off of that than to think they have to look like models or actresses.
The people I know with kind of "nudie" parents have the most fabulous self-image, even the heavy girls think they look good naked.

I will be in my room in my bra and panties and the kids will walk in, not an issue. But my kids are very modest about nakedness. If you even walk past their bathroom door they yell "IM IN HERE" in fear I will try to walk in on them. They have walked in on me fully naked and been all "MOMMMMM" but that is their punishment for not knocking lol. But I don't really feel a need to give thier friends shows considering they are all 17 - 20 years old. It's bad enough their friends all call me "the cool mom", nudie shows would give that a whole new meaning.

My mother passed out naked while sitting on the toilet one night with the bathroom door wide open. I brought friends home and sent them to my room while I went into the kitchen. My mom was always very self conscious about her body, not only was she not naked around us, I remember her getting a little upset about being caught in a bra without a shirt. She was also clearly unhappy with her body and brought me to understand that her size was "fat". I think she was a 10? Not to make her sound like a bad mom, this is nothing compared to the drama she got from her own mother, and she did realize later (long after I moved out) that she didn't do me any favors for self-image.

Ok, that is pretty embarrassing. My mom just says the most ridiculous, off-handed things about bodily functions in public, which is just awful. I guess the difference is Vietnamese rock star and I had a lot in common before we started dating. Jonny (social tard I saw last night) and I had nothing. I was intrigued by the fact that he was a loner, and only after we started dating did I figure out WHY he always sat quietly in a corner! I suspect he may be borderline autistic. I believe the reason we dated was to teach me everything I didn't want in a guy. Met Andy 2 nights after Jonny and I broke up. Go figure.

My ex husband popped up out of the blue again recently. He went to my sisters ex husbands house looking for me. He didn't leave a number but my sister was going through old contacts in her computer yesterday and found the number. My son has been trying to find him on the internet but didn't have any luck. My ex wasn't all that ummm computer savvy. So I called the number and left the "if this is tony" message. He called me back last night. He is now seperated from his most recent ex wife, the one he knocked up while married to me, lives about a mile from where I work and manages a Little Ceasers Pizza place. I admit to being just a little curious as to what he looks like now. When we were married he was a total gym rat, every day at the gym, sometimes twice a day if time permitted. Chicken and rice for dinner every night, total health freak. After we seperated he got together with his new baby momma and her only cooking ability was McDonalds drive through. Yes... Just a little curious.

There is really only one person I am completely embarrassed about, and that is this really really repulsive person (looks and personality both so ugly) who knows a lot of my friends. There are plenty of others who were probably mistakes, but I don't really regret them because they all played a part in making me who I am. I figure if you can get to our age and only regret one person, you're doing awfully well.

Chia, yeah, I already know from seeing my mom naked in my childhood years that I will have fabulous breasts for my age when I'm 50 or 60, so that's a good thing I guess. I've always felt that my mom is the most embarrassing mom on the face of the Earth though, so that's just one of the things I like to put on my list of Embarrassing Things My Mom Did. Maybe I should move it the the Cool Things My Mom Did list. :thu
I guess this should all be in the Social Group. Oh well. Bring on the nasty male comments about my old age and bad looks.
The last several posts about mothers made me kind of sad. It's been 6 years since I lost my mom and I'd give anything to have her here to help me get to 50 and still look as good as she did at that age... This was her 50th birthday and my dad got her a racy red 1989 Camaro to match. :pulse Mom :pulse

While that may sound good, I'm really thankful for a girlfriend of mine that I share a "pair of shoes with." That imaginary pair of shoes was something we came up with one drunken girl's night out when I commented on her advice being like the shoe I couldn't find that would keep my feet grounded when a boyfriend would upset me. (You know, when you're about to make an ass of yourself for the sake of love or what you thought was love.) She didn't always tell me what I wanted to hear, but Lord knows by listening to her, I saved myself any added heartache a lot of times! We don't see each other very often, but the "shoe thing" lives on through gift giving between us on birthdays and Xmas. We both collect shoes, real and decorative knick-knacks between us. BTW...we're both finally happy in love and own lots of shoes too! LOL

I've got the two-tone thing goin' on with added streaks/hi-lites, and trying to get the same effect is gonna be tricky...It took 2 days to complete it last time and trying to match it up with all the hair I have should be a kick. Should I mention I picked up a shade of auburn I really liked just in case I had a mood swing and decided to go one color.( I'm just not sure I want to be a red until the next mood swing.) <<<Especially with the frequent mood swings I've had lately! For as much as it appears we're always fucking with out hair around here, yeah, that cost makes sense. I'm curious since I haven't worked in a salon for awhile, nor gone to one, how much on the average it costs for a cut and color these days. How about perms? (Like I need more body in my hair! Right! Your hair doesnt seem too difficult to color if you are just doing one color without highlights or anything like that. Dont use the box stuff though, get some developer and use a professional permanent dye. It's cheaper in the long run as well.

My haircuts are $100 including tip, but I only get my hair cut a few times a year, and it is worth every penny. My hair is long and I have tons of it, so she spends about an hour layering and thinning.
I really only go to a salon when I am doing multi process dye jobs, and in those situations the bill for cut + dye is usually ~$250.
Brandon, I used to use professional perm dyes exclusively but I've started not liking the way they look on my hair. Maybe it's just that I like to change my color often and can't get that with perm without damaging my hair too much.

Yeah, you dont want to keep dying it over and over in a short time span. I know you like brighter colors which is hard because you have to lift your original color, which is where the bulk of the damage is. You could always try a really high developer and just use a lot of conditioner when showering.

Besides the fact that I usually end up doing stuff the hard way anyway, you can toss in the shot or two I do to get in the mood to begin with. And I agree on the professional colors VS store bought. Problem with that is, you need to know the measurements necessary for mixing VS the pre-measured cut the top open setup

I bet the red won't be good enough once you start discovering how permanent colors can go both darker and lighter. Can't do that with the temp stuff....Only darker. Hint to avoid excess burning from chems:try not to brush or stimulate the scalp before a coloring. Any tiny little scratch will burn like crazy!

Randy, sorry, but if I didn't color my hair, I'd have almost as much gray as you do! :laughyou And seriously...Your gray hair doesn't look bad. No men seem to have bad looking gray hair and personally, I've always wondered why. I mean, come on, it's grows evenly in the temples, mustaches, and beards. We, on the other hand gets this shit comparable to bionic steel wool! I usually separate into 4 chunks, if that helps. The results are NOT even straight across...so if that's the look you're going for, I wouldn't twist. I look really weird with perfectly even bangs because of the curl, so I have to have a lot of texture so I don't have one weird block of hair on my forehead.

Yea that's a hard look for me too. I like stuff that is fitted under the bust and then just slightly flared -- not billowy.
pixies - When my hair is on the dry side (meaning when I wash it every day), it's partially straight with waves in a couple of places and a few curls up front. Wavy hair usually gets dry very easy. I've changed conditioners, stopped washing every day, and now only use leave in conditioner, no other products. That results in my hair being curly all over. Not fussy curly but loose ringlets.

Unless you are trying for straight hair, it's a good read (and is probably at your library). If I can find my copy I'd be glad to pass it along to one of you.
I did not think my hair was really "that curly" since I had sections that were really straight, but by only even loosely following the author's rules, my hair is pretty much curly all over. Not crazy unmanageable curly, but the sort that doesn't have to be fussed with at all.

Last time I got my hair cut, colored and eyebrows waxed I walked out of the salon with $250 less. I can't afford that even with a job so my girlfriend did my hair for me the last time and it doesnt look too bad. I wanted a two tone look but I am not very good at dying my own hair even one color much less two. Although it does dry out alot more from the store bought dye I think. And my hair is already extremely dry.
I have super thin hair though and have tried to go with the not washing daily advice and it just doesn't seem to work for me. For one, I apparently move alot during sleep so without at least conditioning it I would not get a brush through it. I tried just conditioning and ended up with greasy hair by the end of the day. Some days I wish I could just shave it off and say fuck it.
I have gray hair so I have to dye, and all my gray is right in my part so it is very noticable. On men its "distinguished" on women, its old looking. Double standards suck ass.

Mine is pretty straight though, a bit of a wave on the end, one side going out and the other side going in. When I go to work I usually just wash it and then let it dry on the way to work, but then if I go out that night I will go home and take another shower and wash it again. There are some days I wash my hair twice. Sometimes I don't even intend to wash it the second time, I plan on just wetting it to put product in it and style, but it is such a habit when under the shower to wash that it just happens without me even knowing it. :)

I stopped dying it though because I can't tolerate the poison in the dyes.
I got some Henna with the idea of trying that but it sounds like a LOT of work! Maybe someday I will go to one of the "green" salons and pay them to do my hair with Henna.
It's funny, the dyes they sell at Hot Topic (blue, green, purple, etc!) are pretty much non-toxic, but they can't come up with something non-toxic that results in a "natural" color?

my former rooomate used henna for her red hair, she really liked it. it's just extremely gross to handle & she would stain my towels with it. other than that, she loved it & generally had a gilfriend do it for her.

BROKENDOLL

Be careful with the Hennas though. They generally have metals in them, (Won't get all science on you trying to explain it.) and if you have Henna on your hair and then decide to apply a regular tint/color, there's a chance for a chemical reaction to occur that could totally discolor your hair. Same goes for getting perms on top of Henna. Keeping that in mind, if you don't plan on any permanent coloring or perms, the Henna can make thin, limp hair seem thicker and fuller due to coating it.

Yes, they are a temporary color. Semi-permanent colors will do the same, especially at first. I'm talking about those that supposedly wash out over a period of weeks. (Or, shampoos.) There was one temp color I tried just before Coachella this last year. I thought afew streaks of vibrant red would be fun, and I figured it would be gone within a short time since I wash my hair daily. WRONG! That shit wasn't washing out, no matter how often I washed my hair! It faded somewhat, but I wasn't into a strange shade of red/orange.

I've tried Henna but it didn't take well on my hair and bleeds too much for me to bother with -- I could not really wear light colors because it would stain the collar and back of my tops, as well as my pillow cases, sheets, towels...
There are fairly non-toxic options though. I have a semi-hippie-ish hairdresser who is always on me to use them (at the salon of course), and while I really loved the results, it did not last long and I can't justify spending so much money to dye my hair. Like TheWatcher, my hair grows really quickly so I'd be in for a dye job every 4 weeks.

I have gray hair so I have to dye, and all my gray is right in my part so it is very noticable. On men its "distinguished" on women, its old looking. Double standards suck ass.
I love women with healthy, thick, straight, 100% silver hair all over. Especially when they do a blunt angular cut. But yeah, unfortunately my hair has a slight wave to it and also if my mother and grandmother are any guide then my hair is just going to be brown with gray streaks for a very long time.

I find that the state of my hair is a fairly major indicator to how long semi-permanents stay put. If it's in good shape and healthy and glossy then semi-permanent dyes will wash out in a matter of weeks, but if it's dry or damaged from chemical processing, those same dyes might stick around for a lot longer.
This is why I need to give it a rest from color for a while, which is harder than in sounds. I'm starting to get antsy.

My mother was pretty much fully gray by the time she was my age. She has that silver straight hair, not thick though. Hers looks horrible though because she doesn't do anything with it, plus with all the perm and dye jobs she did in younger years her hair is now very thin and stringy. Luckily my fathers hair was a little thicker and not as gray so I at least am not 100% gray. But I have a feeling by 50 I will be.

Interracial couple in Louisiana denied marriage license
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Civil rights advocates in eastern Louisiana are calling for a justice of the peace of Tangipahoa Parish to resign after he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple.
"He's an elected public official and one of his duties is to marry people. He doesn't have the right to say he doesn't believe in it," Patricia Morris, president of the NAACP branch of Tangipahoa Parish, located near the Mississippi line, said Thursday. "If he doesn't do what his position calls for him to do, he should resign from that position."
The demands for Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace for Tangipahoa Parish's 8th Ward, to step down came after he wouldn't issue a marriage license to Beth Humphrey, 30, and her boyfriend, Terence McKay, 32, both of Hammond.
"I was just really shocked, because he's an elected official," Humphrey said.
Bardwell didn't immediately return calls from CNN on Thursday.
However, Bardwell told Hammond's Daily Star newspaper that he was concerned for the children who might be born of the relationship and that, in his experience, most interracial marriages don't last.
"I'm not a racist," Bardwell told the newspaper. "I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house. My main concern is for the children."
Bardwell, stressing that he couldn't personally endorse the marriage, said his wife referred the couple to another justice of the peace.
The bride says the case boils down to discrimination.
Humphrey told CNN that she called Bardwell on October 6 to ask about getting a marriage license, and was asked by his wife whether it would be an interracial marriage. Humphrey said she was told that Bardwell does not sign off on interracial marriages.
She said the couple -- who received their marriage license October 9 from another justice of the peace in the same parish -- have reached out to an attorney to determine their next step.
"We would like him to resign," she said. "He doesn't believe he's being racist, but it is racist."
Morris told CNN that her NAACP chapter has forwarded the case to the state and national levels of the civil rights group.
According to the Census Bureau, Tangipahoa Parish is about 70 percent white and 30 percent black.

(Most of the ones I've had were self-inflicted or done by friends and never took well).
On the brow + side of face thing, yea, I'll probably get it on my right. I was just curious whether that will cause people to make more of an uninformed judgment about me than they already do. Don't worry, Chia. I stare at girl's asses all the time and no one thinks I'm gay.

I am sitting here trying to find wellies that I like, and since I couldn't decide, I spent $100 in knee socks to wear under the wellies I didn't buy.
What do you gals think?

So, I went and ordered one of the Shock Absorber bras in the DDD/F size... Turns out I might need the G cup. But, I don't think I am that big... I will see if it fits after I lose another 5-10 pounds.

Those are cute. These would be for glastonbury (and bonnaroo if I ever go again), so I was looking for something not plain.

Yea they say if you lose 10 lbs your bra size probably changes. I have to lose more than that for anything to fit differently heh.

God, me too. I've gained a lot over the last year. Starting drinking again has not helped. But I'm back at the gym and that shock absorber bra looks like a good investment. Thanks for posting that.
You know that thing (well, you only know this if you've gone through a weight gain period) where nothing fits you anymore, but you don't want to go buy the next sizes up in clothes because you don't want to STAY at that size? But in the meantime, everything is uncomfortable as hell....

Yeah, right now I am halfway between the larger size I was at, when I gave up and bought clothes that fit, and my goal weight. So, most of my clothes are really baggy or really tight. :(
Another 15 lbs and my old clothes will fit! Something to look forward to.

Go Watcher! I'm at the zenith of the weight gain where you are at gym religiously but no results (yet).

I know what my first thought was...we're related! LOL My 2nd thought was you'll pack all those socks and the wellies, (I have faith in you getting them eventually.) and when you get to the festival and toss you inhibitions aside, you'll be running barefoot through the mud! LOL:thu Actually, although all 3 pair are cute in their own way, but why don't you make the shopping part easier and just get a plain pair and dress them up yourself? I remember your yellow sub masterpiece, and we've seen pics of your makeup abilities...I bet you'd end up being a hit with your wellies if you did them yourself. I vote to release your creative animal!

That is a great idea (and thanks btw!) but I ordered the 2nd pair... we'll see how they fit, they might end up going back and then I'll see if I can't conjure something myself. :)

those boots are AWESOME but they are visually some of the loudest things I have ever seen. If you can pull them off with whatever you're wearing they'll look amazing

I can pull off anything.
If I could wear psychedelic disco hot pants to high school without being made fun of, I can certainly wear psychedelic rain boots in rainy season in a city full of hippies. :)

hard to see, but here are the boots. the best part of all is they are that "soft" brand with tons of comfy padding:
http://ivy.aholic.us/gallery/d/807025-1/447153468_1557389610_0.jpeg
and randy & i decided to go with fight club for halloween. i got a different wig, but here's my rendition:

jacket was a bit of a splurge since i couldn't find the one i wanted to use (and had since high school, sad times). the hat was clearance at dillards & i've run wire through it to make it bendy. the wig i'm wearing here is one i had, but i found a better one today for like 5 bucks. the glasses are lightly tinted so they won't be as annoying at night.

Luckily that hasn't been the case for me. At one point I was about 60lbs heavier than I am now, towards the end of my marriage. My boobs were barely a B then and I have lost and gained weight over the last 5 years and they have never changed thank goodness. If I lost a cup size for every 10lbs I would have inverted breasts. :)

I have lost about 2 pant sizes recently and have the same problem. Unfortunately I am too broke to go out and shop for any clothes though so I am stuck in my baggy clothes for awhile. It feels kind of good to have pants hanging off, but on the other hand it would be really nice to have more then 1 pair that fit. I am wearing out the one pair of jeans that I saved from long ago that I hadn't fit in for awhile.

dude, go to ross. they have a rather large selection of bras for $4-6. Just try and look for the ones that are actual recognizable brands such as vanity fair or maidenform and your golden.
bras are such a fickle mistress. from selling lingerie for a couple years ive learned that not only pretty much no one know their accurate bra size but none of the sizes are actually standardized anyways. shenanigans. try that shit on ladies.

Shopping is one of the first things on my list to do once I get moved and caught up on bills again. I do like Ross for shirts but have never found any pants there that fit. I did try going through the bra section once though and could not find any 38B's which was my size before, but I may have to give it another shot now and see if I can find anything in a 36B. I do need to get myself sized though. I don't even think I am an actual B but can't find an A that fits around.

There is no way you're an A. You are not as flat chested as you seem to think you are.

you could just size yourself, its very easy. the people at victorias secret always tell me different bullshit every time, they dont know whats up.
this chart simplifies it pretty well

this site is really good, especially the explanation in the first paragraph
http://www.wikihow.com/Measure-Your-Bra-Size
but apparently it is for uk standards, and i have no idea wtf the differences are.
