Energy FACTory’s Sweatshop Mixer

Spin Your Set At Coachella With A Little Help From Your Friends

Ever dreamed about Djing at the Coachella Music & Art Festival?
Here’s your chance for the resume builder of a lifetime. First there’s a catch! With great opportunity, comes great sacrifice. You cannot perform on your own. You’ll need at least 12 friends to power all your equipment. Your friends will be running on hamster wheels, riding bikes, turning hand cranks, riding seesaws among other things to power your turntables and sound system.

Secondly, there’s limited timeslots so all DJ’s confirmed will need to put down a $50 deposit. If you arrive on time and perform your DJ set powered 100% by friends or family or people you meet at the camp grounds.....you’ll receive a 100% refund plus a cool Sweatshop Mixer t-shirt that is of course sweatshop free..

Lastly, you cannot suck. Send us your website so we can listen to your set. Coachella will curate the music hard drive so you’re getting the best of the best to spin. Set times during Coachella are 30 mins. If you’re friends are in great condition and you’re ruling the decks....this time period can be extended.

Email – sweatshopMIXER@globalinheritance.org for more information and submit yourself.

The Sweatshop is a massive undertaking so if you’re an electrician, engineer, electrical engineers, energy experts, designer, web programmers, architect, movers, mathematician, trucker or the second coming of macgyver...send us an email if you want to lend a hand – coachella@globalinheritance.org. If you are interested in donating your time to volunteer for Global Inheritance during Coachella/Stagecoach festivals but are more skilled as an educator or great communicator, feel free to send us an email with your resume.

Take a walk down memory lane....

18 & UP

Global Inheritance pulled up in style to the Coachella Festival with 7 tricked out alternative energy golf carts, each one redesigned to represent a popular musician or band from Paul McCartney to The Cure. Powered by wind, solar, biodiesel, ethanol, and liquid petroleum gas, these carts showed the crowd a few different ways to cruise and view alternative energy sources. View the whole collection. RECYCLED PAPER PLANE TOSS

Although we haven't flown paper planes since college, we decided to put our flying skills to the test with Recycled Paper Plane Shoot Out. By reusing paper products found within the venue, festival attendees were able to engineer flying apparatuses and test their aim on a bull shaped bullseye to win prizes. Everyday featured championship rounds with the grand prize winner receiving the chance to get down with MIA on stage. Check out the highlights :: CLICK HERE

CARPOOLCHELLA

Once again Coachella and Global Inheritance teamed up to reward carpoolers for driving to the festival with 4 or more in a car. Winners were chosen randomly each day and had a chance at winning VIP tickets to Coachella for life, all access sidestage passes, VIP wristbands, photo passes, $50 Coachella merchandise vouchers, a golf cart ride to front entrance and more. See you next year! Photo gallery of happy winners :: CLICK HERE

TRASHed

Global Inheritance's signature program, TRASHed :: Art of Recycling, returned to Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festival with 24 new artfully redesigned bins. The bins were placed around the venue just waiting to help the thousands of festival attendees recycle their used bottles and cans. Festival goers looking for something smaller could view the mini bin art collection filled with masterpieces from dozens of artists.View the gallery :: CLICK HERE

2008

45 ft. Tall Wind Powered Clock Tower!
Global Inheritance brought you the Energy FACTory featuring cell phone charging bikes, solar powered misters, live screen printing, car conversation, ethanol cooked popcorn, and much more, anchored by a 45 ft. tall wind powered clock stationed at the main entrance as you walked into the festival. It was an easy target.

Solar Power/Mannequin Exhibit: Solar energy will be represented in an art exhibit that merges music and mannequins.
Tour de Coachella: Cell phone charging bikes with misting fans. As people pedaled the bikes, the energy created transferred into a fan, thus making the blades spin and providing a much needed cool down for festival goers and their friends.
Vegetable Oil to Biodiesel Conversion: This biodiesel exhibit included informational demos and discussions about the pros and cons of producing and using biodiesel to fuel cars and other fossil fuel-guzzling items. A live conversion of 50 gallons of vegetable oil into biodiesel also occured during the course of the weekend.
Ethanol Popcorn-Cooking Tree: Jiffy Pop popcorn was cooked using ethanol. If you were lazy, we even cooked it for you.
Eco-Friendly Poster/Shirt Screen Printing: allowed festival goers to learn more about the world of sustainable fashion. Original artwork and designs were printed onto shirts made of bamboo and organic cotton.
Solar Powered DJ Station: Apollo was proud. Enough said.

WATER PROGRAM

In an effort to drastically reduce waste we are re-launching a filtered water program at Coachella in 2010.

Our mission is to cut back on the amount of plastic water bottles sold at the show.

Purchase a Souvenir Coachella container - receive free cold filtered water all weekend at the water program filling stations. There are refill locations located inside the venue & event areas. You can purchase containers at each of these locations along with at the merchandise tent and the general store in camping. Please see the map for locations or ask a festival staff member. *please note, you may not leave a beer garden or any bar area with a full container. So fill up after you leave that area.

ART OF RECYCLING RETURNS TO COACHELLA

Get TRASHed In Front of 60,000 People & Win Coachella Tickets!!

TRASHed :: Art of Recycling celebrates 7 glorious years at Coachella in 2010.

If you were born with the artistic ability to design a recycling bin like no other...
If your notebook doodles or murals alongside the 101N leave more to the imagination than
the mayans, the ghost kid from three men & baby + the dinosaurs COMBINED...
Then we invite you to participate in TRASHed Coachella.

Everyone from Hunter S Thompson to Fugazi has represented during the past 7 years.
Now here’s your shot to make the history books and get your redesigned recycling
bin in front the world.

There’s two rounds of competition. Winning Northern America and then the world competition.
20 finalist will be selected each receiving tixs and vip passes for Coachella Festival 2010.
We invite you to submit your artwork and be considered to design one of the 20 recycling
bins featured at Coachella. What's even better is that the non offensive redesigned bins
will be placed in schools throughout Southern California after Coachella to inspire the future
recyclers of the world! Next steps? Send us a link to your artwork, concept and/or website.

On February 20, 2010... 20 artists and 5 alternates will be selected to redesign 96 gallon
recycling bins.  We don’t charge an admission fee, but any bad idea or artwork will be
passed along internally at your expense.
